The Randwick Guineas is a Group 1 race for three-year-old’s run over 1600m at Randwick racecourse at set weights.

Formerly known as the Canterbury Guineas, and first run in 1935, some champion three-year-old’s have won the race including Rodman (1957), Octagonal (1996) and The Autumn Sun (2019).

We have taken a look at every single runner in this years edition and offered our thoughts and selections below including the best odds using the EliteBet code BETSAU.

1. Militarise (4)

The 2023 Golden Rose winner was also two-time Group 1 winner at two when he took out the Sires’ and Champagne this time last year.

Showing his class he finished within 2.5 lengths of Romantic Warrior in the Cox Plate last spring and finished second against the older horses first up in the Apollo Stakes.

Will appreciate the drop back to his own age as well as barrier four.

2. Tom Kitten (8)

Was dominant when winning the Group 1 Spring Champion by almost four lengths to close out his last campaign proving he is a quality animal.

Both runs this prep have been full of merit although a little disappointing but he’ll appreciate the step up in trip now.

There’s no doubting his class and with even luck he’ll get his shot.

3. Celestial Legend (11)

Les Bridge has a very progressive type on his hands in the form of this son of Dundeel.

Produced his second career win with a highly rated win in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes at Rosehill second up, beating Encap into second by two lengths.

He has the outside barrier to contend with but if he can take another step forward, he’s every chance at a maiden Group 1 win.

4. Encap (10)

He has just the one win to his name but has been placed in all but one of his nine career starts.

Five of those starts have been in black type races and he has placed in both so far this prep.

His first go at the mile but he always gives his all.

5. Ganbare (5)

Closed out his last campaign with a third to Tom Kitten in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes.

Was found wanting in the final stages first up behind Celestial Legend but Tim Clark did drop the whip which wouldn’t have helped.

Drawn well and will appreciate the step up in distance.

6. Les Vampires (2)

Won a benchmark 64 at Canterbury first up in impressive style and then held on for third behind Celestial Legend.

I found it tough to see him turning the tables on the grey horse but he’s drawn to get another nice run in transit.

7. Fukubana (3)

Couldn’t have been much more impressive scoring at Doomben two back by 1.3 lengths and earned a trip south.

Was beaten 3.3 lengths in the Hobartville and would need to improve drastically to be any chance.
Blinkers have been added for the first time and drawn well.

8. Ducasse (9)

Broke through for his maiden win at Warwick Farm mid week’s first up by 2.5 lengths but was no match for them in the Hobartville.

9. Ceolwolf (1)

Split Encap and Tom Kitten at Group 3 level during the spring but has failed to figure in two subsequent runs.

Would need to see some improvement before considering at Group level.

10. Cafe Millenium (7)

Has had six goes in black type races without a place. Not for me.

11. Cosmic Lad (6)

Only a lightly raced three-year-old that broke through for his first win in February.

Big ask to go from that to a Group 1 in such a short space of time.
