New Zealand Oaks Bookmaker Offers
The following bookmaker are offering New Zealand Oaks bonus bet deals and offers.
New Zealand Oaks History
The New Zealand Oaks is a relatively new race, having been first run in 1969 when Mayo Gold took out the feature.
It was changed to the New Zealand Oaks name after being run under a different name from 1969-1973.
Since then, it has been won by many of New Zealand’s best staying fillies and that form has stacked up beautifully overseas. Recent winners such as Bonneval, Boundless and Princess Coup all went on to perform highly after winning the New Zealand Oaks.
2019 saw an upset result with Sentimental Miss winning at big odds, but the New Zealand Oaks winners are typically well-backed.
Opie Bosson has won the New Zealand Oaks on four occasions. His first came in 2000 with She’s Country before winning with Bramble Rose, Princess Coup and Keep The Peace.
Trainers Lisa Latta and Shaune Ritchie have each won two New Zealand Oak’s in the last 20 years.
New Zealand Oaks Field
The field for the New Zealand Oaks won’t be confirmed until early March when NZTR releases the final field, barrier draw and weights.
The New Zealand Oaks field consists of 18 runners and four emergency runners in case of scratchings. The field is determined by prize money, class and various other handicapping factors.
New Zealand Oaks Form Guide
Punters have done well betting on the New Zealand Oaks, as many winners have been firm in the betting markets.
Apart from 2019 winner Sentimental Miss, many of the recent winners have been found in the market. Savvy Coup, Bonneval and Fanatic were all fancied with punters.
There’s no set race which is a key lead-up guide to the New Zealand Oaks, but punters should look for form over 2000m. This is the first run over 2400m for the majority of the field, so finding fillies that have won over 2000m is ideal.
Winners out of the New Zealand Oaks go on to perform at high levels in both New Zealand and Australia.
