Winx Stakes Form Guide

There hasn’t been much betting activity in the Winx Stakes for the last few years, due to Winx winning the race. Her races weren’t overly popular as she typically paid around $1.05 to win.

Prior to Winx winning, punters got some good value with some good horses. The likes of Royal Descent, Tiger Tees and Trusting all paid nice prices for well-favoured types.

Punters don’t have much form to go on as it’s one of the first spring races in Sydney, but it takes a good horse to win.

Look for the runners that performed highly in the autumn and ones that are looking for 1600-2000m later in their preparation.

Many past winners have gone on to win the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley.

Winx Stakes History

The Winx Stakes was first run in 1923 as the Warwick Stakes and the named was changed in 2018 to honour three-time champion Winx.

Now with Group 1 status, the Winx Stakes will be targeted by Australia’s best horses in the hopes of getting some early spring black type.

Held over 1400m at Randwick, the Winx Stakes has been won by many of Australia’s best. Limerick was a three-time winner in the 1920’s before the likes of Flight and Sky High won.

It has been won on three consecutive occasions by three different horses. Limerick, Kingston Town and Winx all dominates the race during their careers.

Other winners have included Sunline, Lonhro and Super Impose, which were all champions in their own right.
