First raced in 1885, the Australian Oaks has been a staple of filly racing in the country since its inception.
First ran as the AJC Oaks, the race has had a bumpy history along the journey with a period between 1895 and 1921 seeing the race not held, resuming as the Adrian Knox Oaks for a further 35 years.
The race has also had a number of different dates, finally setting on the March timeline once The Championships inaugurated.
Today it is run on the second day of the Sydney Championships and has Surround, Light Fingers and Leilani among its former winners.
