Kilmore racing takes place on Tuesday, October 13, with a competitive country meeting set down for Kilmore.
Here are our best bets from the meeting, which also feature in our daily selections.
Race 2 No.7 – Nishioka
Nishioka can go close in race two at Kilmore. There are a few unknowns here with a number of first starters in the field, but the Robbie Griffiths-trained filly has the benefit of one race start and was midfield off a crawling tempo at Bairnsdale back on September 20 before sticking on well to finish runner-up over the 1000m behind Corbin. The daughter of Farnan will be fitter for that outing and came into her debut off a couple of winning trials. The step up to 1200m looks like it will suit, and with Luke Currie on board, she should be right in the thick of it at the business end.
Race 6 No.13 – Hidden Witness
Hoping the third emergency Hidden Witness can sneak into the field in race six. The six-year-old has been building nicely towards her second career win and has finished runner-up in three consecutive starts this campaign, all over 1200m. The first two of those came on synthetic tracks before she stepped out at Tatura on September 19 and missed out by a couple of lengths behind Mano, putting a decent gap on the third placegetter. She should gain a start, with two scratchings already at the time of writing. The daughter of Capitalist went 4.4 lengths slower than standard benchmark last time, which is the best last-start figure of any runner in this race. She gets out to 1400m, a distance at which she narrowly missed last preparation, and will be nearing peak fitness. She draws perfectly in barrier four with Brittany Raymond aboard. The rider strikes at 15% for the Neil Farley stable, providing a 41% profit on turnover for punters.
Race 7 No.5 – Hell's Itch
Hell's Itch can go close in the last of seven races on the program. The former New South Wales gelding has had two runs since switching to the Ben Brisbourne stable and needed the hit-out first-up at Wangaratta before showing improvement last time, running on strongly to narrowly miss behind Queen Of Tuscany at Wodonga. The son of Hellbent comes into this third-up and will be fitter for his two outings. He draws wide and just needs some luck in the early stages to be right in the finish.
