The Epsom Handicap is one of Sydney's best spring races and has over 150 years of history on the Australian sporting landscape.
The race has been over the mile journey for the majority of its lifetime, with a brief period of five years where the Epsom was run at 1800m.
Named in honour of the famous Epsom Downs racecourse in England, the mile contest has seen some of the country's absolute best fight it out with Imposing, Winx, Nightmarch among the gallopers to claim the prize.
Alongside the $1 million prize pool, the winner gets a ballot exempt run into the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, making a win in the Epsom all the more valuable for the field.
