The Stradbroke Handicap is a $1.5 million event that is arguably the best race as part of the Brisbane Racing Carnival.
The race is named after Lord Stradbroke, an originator of the weight for age scale used for big events. First ran in 1890, the race has undergone a number of changes throughout the years, including a distance change from seven furlongs to the current trip of 1400m in 1972.
A number of quality runners have taken out this event including Rough Habit, Dane Ripper, and more recently Santa Ana Lane, Trekking, Alligator Blood and Think About It.
