First run in 1947 when Nizam’s Ring scored the win, the Flight Stakes has been a launching pad for many of Australia’s top fillies.
Gaining Group 1 status in 1985, the Flight Stakes has since been one of the must-win races for any female thoroughbred.
Past winners include champion thoroughbreds Sunline, Samantha Miss, More Joyous and Guelph.
Named after Australian Hall of Fame mare Flight, the Flight Stakes is a part of the Epsom meeting, which features a total of three Group 1’s.
It remains one of the feature races for the fillies and it has often kick-started many successful careers.
