There’s plenty of feature race action happening around the globe as we take a look at what’s in store for us this week.….
AUSTRALIA
With Spring now upon us, feature racing will be more prominent and it starts on Saturday 5 September at Sandown with the main event being the Group 1 Memsie Stakes. The support card includes the McKenzie Stakes, Chautauqua Stakes and the Atlantic Jewel Stakes which are all Listed events.
North of the border, things are warming up in Sydney as well with black-type racing on the menu on Saturday 5 September at Randwick. Three Group 2 events head the list with the Chelmsford Stakes, Tramway Stakes and the Furious Stakes all to be decided. The Group 3 Concorde Stakes will also be run and won.
NEW ZEALAND
Feature race action will be seen at Ellerslie on Saturday 5 September with the Group 1 Proisir Plate to be run and won. This event is supported by the Group 3 Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Sunline Vase for three-year-old fillies over 1200m.
JAPAN
All roads lead to Nakayama this weekend for feature race action beginning on Saturday 5 September with the Group 3 Keisei Hai Autumn Handicap to be decided. Then on Sunday 6 September, they play host to the Group 2 Shion Stakes
(Shuka Sho Trial).
Also on Sunday 6 September, the Hanshin meeting is highlighted with the running of the Group 2 Sankei Sho Centaur Stakes.
USA
Feature racing heats-up in the States this weekend with Saratoga racing on both days. Saturday 5 September sees the Group 1 Spinaway as the feature event with the Group 3 With Anticipation on the same card.
Then on Sunday 6 September at the same venue, the Group 1 Hopeful and Group 3 Prioress will be run and won.
We’re racing at Del Mar this weekend as well beginning on Saturday 5 September with the Group 1 Del Mar Debutante and Group 3 Del Mar Juvenile Turf on the program. Then on Sunday 6 September the Group 1 Del Mar Futurity will be decided.
Kentucky Downs has a full book of events on Saturday 5 September with a host of feature races to be decided. No less than five Group 2 races will be seen and they include: Kentucky Downs Ladies Turf, Music City Stakes, Nashville Derby Invitational, Kentucky Downs Turf Sprint and the Kentucky Turf Cup.
