There’s plenty of feature race action happening around the globe as we take a look at what’s in store for us this week.….
AUSTRALIA
Feature racing for Victoria moves to Sunday 27 September with Caulfield hosting a feast of major races.
Heading the list is the Group 1 Manikato Stakes over 1200m, strongly supported by three Group 2 events, namely the Feehan Stakes, Stutt Stakes and the Stocks Stakes. Also on the card are two Groupe 3 events with the Scarborough Stakes and JRA Cup to be decided, along with the Jim Moloney Stakes and the Testa Rossa Stakes which are both Listed events.
Rosehill has all the Sydney action on Saturday 26 September with the Group 1 Golden Rose as the major drawcard for the day. Two Group 2 events support the big one with the Golden Pendant and the Shannon Stakes to be decided.
The Group 3 Colin Stephen Quality and Listed Heritage Stakes round off the meeting.
In Queensland, all roads lead to Toowoomba on Saturday 26 September where the Listed Weetwood Hcp is the feature of the day, supported by the running of the Toowoomba Cup over 2000m.
NEW ZEALAND
All the action happens at Hastings on Saturday 26 September with the meeting highlighted by the running of the Group 1 Howden Insurance Mile at Weight For Age.
The Group 2 Hawke’s Bay Guineas and Group 3 Gold Trial Stakes are also to be decided.
JAPAN
Feature racing is on this weekend in the land of the rising sun with Hanshin racing on Saturday 26 September where the Group 3 Sirius Stakes heads the meeting. Then on Sunday 27 September, the Group 1 Sprinters Stakes is the main event for the Nakayama meeting.
IRELAND
This weekend, The Curragh race on both days and begin their feature racing events with the Group 2 Churchill Tyres Beresford Stakes to be decided on Saturday 26 September, then on Sunday 27 September, two Group 3 events will be run and won, namely the Darley Fillies Stakes and the Qatar Racing Renaissance Stakes.
USA
A big weekend is in store for Belmont and it begins on Saturday 26 September where the Group 1 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic is the feature event on the card. It is strongly supported by the Gallant Bloom and Flower Bowl Stakes which are both Group 2 events.
Still at Belmont, we move to Sunday 27 September where three Group 3 events will be run and won. They are the Vosburgh, Winter Memories and the Belmont Turf Sprint.
The action doesn’t stop there with Santa Anita also hosting a two-day bonanza with their action beginning on Saturday 26 September where the Group 1 Goodwood Stakes heads the list. Supporting this event are three Group 2 events, namely the Eddie D Stakes, City of Hope Mile and the John Henry Turf Championship.
Churchill Downs also race on Saturday 26 September with their meeting highlighted by the running of the Group 2 Lukas Classic Stakes.
