Tattersalls Tiara Form Guide

Form out of the Sydney autumn typically stacks up well in the Tattersalls Tiara. So long as they’re not too tired, form stacks up nicely out of the Queen of the Turf.

As well as The Championships, form from the provincial circuits has a good history of producing winners. Punters should look at the form from both the Scone and Hawkesbury carnivals.

The Brisbane Winter Carnival also has some good lead-up races, which includes the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap and the Dane Ripper.

Those two races have combined to produce several winners of the Tattersalls Tiara.

Tattersalls Tiara History

The Tattersalls Tiara is the feature event for the female thoroughbreds during the Brisbane Winter Carnival.

Held at Group 1 level, the Tattersalls Tiara is one of the newer feature races on the calendar. It was inaugurated in 1989 when known as the Winter Stakes, before Tattersalls took over the sponsorship.

Becoming a Group 1 in 2007, the Tattersalls Tiara has since been won by many of Australia’s best fillies and mares, including the likes of Red Tracer, Srikandi and Prompt Response.

Due to being held in the winter, the Tattersalls Tiara appeals to the runners that like some sting out of the surface, so we don’t get to see Australia’s finest female horses.

However, it’s still a quality race and the $500,000 prize money make it an appealing race for connections.

Due to the reconstruction of Eagle Farm, it was held at Doomben in 2017 and 2018, but returned to Eagle Farm in 2019.
