2026 The Everest Betting Tips - 3 Long-Range Predictions
- Ka Ying Rising: Top contender with a proven track record.
- Tentyris: Prominent emerging sprinter from Godolphin.

The 2026 Everest at Royal Randwick is starting to take shape, even though the final slot selections are yet to be confirmed.
When we first looked at the 2026 Everest market back in December, Ka Ying Rising was the obvious horse to beat and nothing that has happened since has changed that view.
We tipped the Hong Kong superstar as our Best Bet at even money ($2), with Tentyris our Next Best at $9 and Point Barrow the speculative Best Value selection at $26.
Ka Ying Rising is now a dominant $1.34 favourite, while the other two original selections are no longer part of our calculations.
Here are our updated predictions for the 2026 Everest.
Ka Ying Rising – The Everest Best Bet
Impossible to go past the obvious. We tipped Ka Ying Rising at $2 back in December and anyone who took that price is now sitting in a very strong position with the defending champion trading at around $1.34. If anything, Ka Ying Rising looks to have returned even better. The David Hayes-trained superstar resumed in the Group 3 Chief Executive’s Cup over 1200m at Sha Tin on September 6 and produced an extraordinary performance, running 1:06.11 to smash his own course record by more than a second.
The victory extended his winning streak to 21 and Zac Purton suggested afterwards that there was still improvement to come before The Everest. Ka Ying Rising is expected to follow a similar path to last year, travelling to Australia before having a Randwick trial around 10 days out from the race. There had been a minor concern over bruising to a hoof before his return, but his performance at Sha Tin put those fears to bed in emphatic fashion. The $1.34 is obviously nowhere near as attractive as the $2 we recommended in December, but there is simply no reason to jump off.
Tempted – The Everest Next Best Bet
Tempted enters our updated selections at $8 and looks one of Australia's leading hopes of upsetting the Hong Kong superstar. Last year's Everest runner-up has returned better than ever in 2026. She rounded out her autumn campaign with victory in the Group 1 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint before resuming in the Group 2 Concorde Stakes over 1000m at Randwick on September 5.
Despite getting back in the field, Tempted unleashed her trademark turn of foot to sweep past her rivals and win by half a length, remaining unbeaten in 2026. Ciaron Maher was delighted with the performance and her Everest credentials are obvious after she finished runner-up in the race last year. The Concorde victory has put her in the box seat to secure the Godolphin slot and, unlike some of the emerging sprinters in the market, we already know she can perform on Everest Day.
Warwoven – The Everest Best Value
Warwoven has emerged as an interesting $51 outsider after announcing himself as one of the most exciting three-year-old sprinters in the country. The Bjorn Baker-trained colt showed plenty as a juvenile, winning the Group 3 Pago Pago Stakes before finishing sixth in the Golden Slipper from a wide barrier.
He returned this spring with a fifth behind Golden Slipper winner Guest House in the San Domenico Stakes, settling back from a wide draw before producing an eye-catching finish. Warwoven then took a significant step forward second-up in the Group 2 Run To The Rose over 1200m at Rosehill on September 12. Racing much closer to the speed, he accelerated clear to defeat the previously unbeaten St Gotthard and Under Focus and take his record to four wins from seven starts. The immediate target is the Group 1 Golden Rose over 1400m on September 26 and there is one obvious caveat with the $51 Everest price – Warwoven does not currently have a confirmed slot.
However, that is also why we are getting such a big price. If he can measure up in the Golden Rose and connections elect to bring him back to 1200m, there will be plenty of interest from slot holders looking for a progressive three-year-old.
What Happened To Our Original Everest Tips?
Ka Ying Rising has done exactly what we hoped – and then some.
We tipped him at even money ($2) in December and he is now approximately $1.34 after continuing his remarkable winning streak and breaking the Sha Tin 1200m course record.
Tentyris was our original Next Best at $9 and the prediction looked particularly good when he won the Lightning Stakes during the autumn and shortened considerably in Everest betting.
However, his campaign subsequently tapered off and he has now been retired to stud, ruling him out of the race.
Point Barrow was our speculative $26 selection but hasn't made the progression required to establish herself among Australia's elite sprinters and is no longer prominent in Everest calculations.
Tempted and Warwoven therefore join Ka Ying Rising in our updated three.
