π Queensland Oaks Preview π
The final Group 1 for the three-year-old fillies this season brings together a deep field of stayers, with interstate form once again looking the key to finding the winner.
Panova heads betting after her dominant victory in the Australasian Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville and that Adelaide form line has historically stood up strongly in this race.
The Chris Waller-trained filly went eight lengths faster than standard benchmark and is on the same path that the Waller stable used with Egg Tart before her Queensland Oaks victory. Paltrow Miss comes out of the same race and was 3rd.
The Doomben Roses (2000m) remains the key local lead-up and Fireball Miss enhanced her credentials with a tough victory in that race, while Chispa came home with the fastest last 200m and shapes as one of the major dangers despite a horror draw in barrier 20. Grand Omaha was also solid in 3rd and continues to improve with racing. A total of nine of the field of 18 plus the five emergencies come out of that race.
New Zealand filly Solid Gold brings an intriguing profile after finishing 5th against the boys in last week's Queensland Derby (2400m) and was forced to concede a substantial start before making ground and now returns to her own sex from a much kinder barrier draw. The daughter of Turn Me Loose has won three of her past four starts and looks ideally suited stepping out to 2200m.
The Queensland Oaks is Race 8 on the program and is set to be run at 3.52 AEST.
2026 Queensland Oaks Speed Map
Several of the wider-drawn runners are expected to push forward early, creating genuine tempo in the first half of the race. Norty Forty and Fireball Miss can roll across and settle prominently, while Sheeza Diva and Solid Gold should enjoy economical runs from inside draws.
Panova lands in the perfect stalking position from barrier 6 and should secure cover just behind the speed. Parvenu maps similarly and looks set to get every favour throughout. Chispa, Single Red and Grand Omaha will likely drift back from their wide barriers before attempting to sweep into the race from the 600m.
The map strongly favours runners drawn inside who can hold a position without expending energy early.
2026 Queensland Oaks Best Bet
π₯ Best Bet: Panova
Panova looks to have all the pieces in place to complete the
Australasian Oaks-Queensland Oaks double. She brings the strongest form into the race, owns a clear ratings edge on the field and has drawn to receive the perfect run. The spacious Eagle Farm circuit should suit her powerful finishing style and the 2200m trip appears ideal. Waller has targeted this race specifically since Adelaide and her trial suggests she has maintained her form. With several of her main dangers drawing poorly, she gets every chance to add a second Group 1 to her record. It is worth noting that at this stage of her last preparation she saved her best with a dazzling win at Flemington on Derby Day and I expect more of the same in the Queensland Oaks.
2026 Queensland Oaks Value Bet
π° Value Bet: Parvenu
Keen on one out of the Doomben Roses and Chispa has some solid credential after closing off well but one at bigger odds that is also worth considering is Parvenu The Grahame Begg filly was stepping up from a BenchMark 70 win on the Caulfield Heath and was posted wide throughout after drawing barrier 10 and not in an ideal spot as they cornered. As she swung for home and balanced up, she closed off with the second fastest late split to land two lengths away. She draws to enjoy a much more ecomical run this time around in barrier 7 and profiles as a filly that will relish the rise to 2200m. At double-figure odds she doesn't need to be the most likely winner to represent value and shapes as one of the best each-way plays in the race
