The Tattersalls Tiara will be held at Eagle Farm on Saturday June 29 and is for the fillies and mares.
Bella Nipotina is favourite in the market and is the proven Group 1 performer. She comes out of the big Brisbane sprints and claimed the Doomben 10000 (1200m) before finishing runner-up in the Kingsford Smith Cup and the Stradbroke Handicap.
Ces’t Magique is one of the challengers and was a last start winner of the Dane Ripper Stakes over the 1300m at Eagle Farm.
Tattersalls Tiara Preview
Bella Nipotina has the form on the board and should be hard to beat under the weight-for-age conditions of the race. The Ciaron Maher-trained mare conceded 6kg when going down in narrow fashion behind Stefi Magnetica in the Stradbroke. That was her first go at the 1400m.
C’est Magique is one of nine runners that come out of the Dane Ripper Stakes on June 15 and overcame the wide gate that day to clear out late ahead of Ausbred Flirt. She was first up off a nine-week break that day.
Coco Jamboo (5th) and Cover Volante (6th) are among a couple that can improve and were wide throughout in the Dane Ripper. Coco Jamboo draws perfectly in barrier 3 this time around. Couer Volante draws wide again and gets the blinkers on for the first time.
Semana and Roll On High were well beaten in the Stradbroke and it is hard to see that pair turning the tables on Bella Nipotina, although both were posted wide. Roll On High was impressive in her run before that when winning over the 1400m at Eagle Farm.
Tattersalls Tiara Tips
Best Bet- Bella Nipotina
Hard to go past Bella Nipotina, who has the form on the board. She is the class runner and comes in with the best last start benchmark figures of any runner, having gone a healthy 9.4 lengths faster than standard benchmark in the Stradbroke.
She will have to work hard in the early stages to find a spot from the wide barrier but we know how tough she is and the 1400m does not hold any concerns.
The six-year-old has the speed to punch up and settle within the first few. Ryan Maloney jumps on for the first time and has won three of 11 for Ciaron Maher, providing a 25% profit on turnover for punters.
Best Bet- Couer Volante
Best roughie might be Coeur Volante. The Mike Moroney-trained filly has shown promise in her seven starts for three wins and has been set for the Brisbane carnival after her 4th placing in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield last spring.
She produced the fastest last 200m when resuming with a 4th at Eagle Farm over the 1200m before being posted wide in the Dane Ripper Stakes (1300m) at her latest.
The daughter of Proisir will get back an they might string out a bit with the likes of Bubble Rock and Zoe’s Promise to roll forward. Expect her to be strong with any luck late in the piece.
