The Everest Tips - Runner-by-Runner Guide for the Randwick showpiece

The Everest has fast become one of the most anticipated races of the year since its inception in 2017.
Newly appointed to a Group 1, the race is run over 1200m at Royal Randwick and is the richest race run on turf in the world with prize money of $20 million.
Another stellar field has been assembled in 2024 and we have given our thoughts and betting plays below.
1.I Wish I Win (9)
Has amassed over $12 million in prize money and has remarkably missed a place only three times in 13 starts at Group 1 level and 20 from 23 overall.
Was beaten less than half a length in this race last year and both runs this campaign have been excellent at The Valley where he is not suited.
He’s the best horse in the race on his day and you know he’ll be storming home late.
2.Giga Kick (3)
The 2022 Everest winner has seven wins from 13 career starts but had 12 months between runs leading into this campaign.
He was solid first up over 1000m and then chased well once clear to be beaten a length in the Premiere Stakes which is always a good guide for this race.
3.Private Eye (10)
The Joe Pride trained galloper has won just shy of $10 million in prize money over his career which has included 11 wins, one at the top level.
His best rating would see him go close but I’m unsure he is going as well as he once was.
4.Bella Nipotina (12)
There isn’t a more consistent sprinting horse in the country and she has placed in seven of her last eight starts which includes two wins at Group 1 level.
She holds residual fitness from her Brisbane winter campaign and has been beaten less than half a length in both starts this prep.
Primed and ready to go for her Grand Final.
5.I Am Me (1)
There’s no more progressive horse in this year’s race and she is one of only two horses in the field to bring in winning form.
In fact, she has won back to back races at Group 3 level to earn her spot in the race and she is one that is being overlooked in the market.
6.Stefi Magnetica (6)
The 2024 Stradbroke Handicap winner just missed behind I Am Me in the Group 2 Shorts here at Randwick first up and the extra 100m will suit.
She meets that mare 1kg better at the weights and has had a nice trial in between runs to sharpen her up.
Drawn well and represents great value at double figure odds.
7.Sunshine In Paris (8)
Made up plenty of ground at Rosehill first up at Group 2 level, beating Joliestar over 1200m in a small field.
She’ll appreciate it if the sun stays out in Sydney during the week and although she will need to go to a new level, she is a horse with plenty of upside.
8.Joliestar (4)
The 2023 Thousand Guineas winner couldn’t have been much more impressive when winning by three lengths first up although she didn’t beat much.
She disappointed when running third second up as the short priced favourite but she is a mare with a heap of ability.
I’m convinced she’s a better 1400-1600m horse and she’s come up awfully short in the market considering this is an outstanding field of sprinters.
9.Growing Empire (7)
Suffered just the second defeat of his short career when beaten a nostril in the Group 1 Manikato at The Valley taking on the older horses.
He’ll meet the likes of I Wish I Win 1kg worse at the weight in this but there is no doubting his natural ability.
10.Traffic Warden (2)
Returned a winner in the Run To The Rose first up at Rosehill and beat all but Broadsiding in the Golden Rose second up.
This is his first go against the older horses but he’s drawn well and will carry just 53kg with Jamie Kah steering.
11.Storm Boy (5)
Got the Coolmore slot at the final hour but he is another that takes on the older horses for the first time.
Was scintillating first up when scoring by three lengths and if he produces a rating like that, he can have some chance with even luck from a good draw.
12.Lady Of Camelot (11)
The 2024 Golden Slipper winner has been far from disgraced in two runs this campaign against the older sprinters.
Barrier 11 shouldn’t be a concern as she has the tactical speed to go straight to the front and she is one that has been overlooked by the market.
