Ranvet Stakes Racing Tips - Is an upset on the cards in Ranvet Stakes?

Chris Waller holds a powerful hand with three runners including the favourite Aeliana, alongside Trinity College and Lindermann. Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott counter with Sir Delius and Alalcance, while Stefi Magnetica represents Bjorn Baker.

The key form reference is the Verry Elleegant Stakes where Aeliana produced a strong performance when finishing a narrow runner-up behind Autumn Glow after settling on speed. Sir Delius also comes through that race with a solid 3rd placing, while Trinity College worked home fairly and shapes as a runner suited rising to 2000m. Lindermann’s performance is harder to assess after leading at a slow tempo before fading late without being fully tested.

Stefi Magnetica brings a different form profile, coming through the All-Star Mile (1600m) where she produced the best last-start benchmark figure of any runner in this field, running 14.3 lengths faster than standard benchmark. 

That race was run at an extreme tempo, and while she could not sustain the speed late, it may prove an ideal conditioning run stepping up to 2000m.

Alalcance is the other runner in the field and is not to be discounted, despite placing 6th in her only run at her current preparation. That came over the 2000m in the Randwick City Stakes (2000m) and she went hard out in front before just fading late to land two lengths off the winner

We might get a solid tempo here, despite the small field. Lindermann and Alalcance are expected to roll forward and take up leading positions, with Sir Delius likely to settle on speed just behind or alongside them.

Aeliana should secure a comfortable trailing position behind the leaders, while Stefi Magnetica and Trinity College map to settle just off the speed in the second half of the field. Given the lack of depth in numbers, positioning will be critical and any mid-race moves could prove decisive. 

At the price, Stefi Magnetica shapes as a value player in the Ranvet Stakes and profiles as the runner capable of producing the upset. Her last start effort in the All Star Mile lacked a bit visually but she has shown a pattern of improvement third-up in previous preparations and now steps to 2000m for the first time, which profiles as a suitable progression given her racing style.

With the favourite Aeliana coming through a race run at a slower overall tempo and Sir Delius yet to produce a figure matching Stefi Magnetica’s peak, the gap between the market and performance ratings appears wider than it should be. She has the capacity to outperform expectations and figure prominently at a price.
