Morphettville racing takes place on Saturday, March 21 with a 10-race program set down for the Morphettville Parks racetrack.

We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for  Morphettville Parks racetrack.

Race 6: No.5  A Samurai Mind

The Murray Bridge-based galloper is third-up here and ticks all the boxes that suggest he can take out this event.

Last start, the Shamus Award gelding showed improvement when second-up by finishing third in the Listed C.S Hayes Memorial Cup, here over 1600m on the main track.

Drawn wide in gate 10 (of 11), Lachlan Neindorf settled him mid-field before finishing off well and arriving in time to claim the minor prize in the race.

Getting all the favours from gate one here, he maps to settle in the box seat with Todd Pannell as the new pilot.

A track specialist, boasting two wins and a runner-up finish from his three starts here, he is also a two-time winner when third-up and with a trouble-free run here, he looks a major contender for the big prize in this contest.

Race 8: No.7  Blue Akoya

The Team Freedman-trained galloper is in great touch this time in and looks well placed here for a win with her first look at the track.

Last start, the Blue Point filly came off a BM62 win at Sale when she stepped-up in grade and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth in a BM66 over 1100m at Seymour.

Settling mid-field early, she worked into the race nearing the turn then in the run home, held her own to cross the line just behind the placegetters that day.

Crossing the border for the first time here, she draws wide in gate ten and maps to settle back in the field with Todd Pannell steering the ship for the first time.

If she can keep in touch with them and be close enough on the turn, the three-year-old can figure in the finish and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.

Race 9: No.9  Nicish

Phillip Stokes saddles-up Nicish here who is second-up and boasting strong stats at the track, looks set to give this event a real shake.

Last start, the Nicconi mare resumed off a 17-week break and impressed when she beat all but one home in a BM72, here over the 1000m sprint.

Settling near last in the event, Jacob Opperman tracked them to the turn before weaving through traffic and doing her best work late, arrived in time to grab second prize, beaten less than 1.5 lengths on the line.

Jumping form gate ten, she maps to settle back in the field again with Opperman retaining the ride.

The mare boasts a strong record on the Parks track with three wins and four minor placings resulting off nine starts and fitter for that first-up effort, she looks the testing material in this contest.
