The Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) is headlined by the unbeaten Autumn Glow, who brings a perfect 10-from-10 record into what shapes as her toughest test to date.
Her latest victory in the Verry Elleegant Stakes (1600m) came off a relatively modest figure of 2.7 lengths faster than standard benchmark, largely due to a slow early tempo. That performance should not be underestimated, however, as she has consistently demonstrated the ability to produce much stronger figures when required.
The race features strong depth around her, particularly from the Canterbury Stakes (1300m) where eight runners emerge. Beiwacht produced a solid return there after crossing the line as the runner-up, while Lady Shenandoah and Headley Grange also come through that race with solid performances.
Beiwacht’s historical peak of 14 lengths faster than standard benchmark when winning the Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill highlights his upside and came at this stage of his last preparation, while Headley Grange produced the fastest final 200m of the Canterbury Stakes, indicating strong closing potential.
Gringotts is another that comes out of the Canterbury Stakes and will have scope for improvement out to the 1500m. The Ciaron Maher-trained galloper claimed this race in 2025.
The Melbourne form lines also add interest with Pericles coming off a dominant Futurity Stakes (1400m) victory, which rated 10.4 lengths faster than standard benchmark, while Evaporate was excellent in the All-Star Mile, (1600m) producing a figure 17 lengths faster than standard benchmark.
The three-year-old, Attica, looms as a value play 3rd behind Sheza Alibi and Autumn Boy in the Randwick Guineas (1600m), providing another strong reference point into this race.
While Autumn Glow sets the standard, the depth of high-rating performances among her rivals ensures this is no one-horse race.

Attica shapes as the standout value runner in the George Ryder Stakes.
His performance in the Randwick Guineas behind top-level opposition ties in strongly with this race and suggests she has the ability to measure up at Group 1 level against older horses.
