The Might And Power will be held on Saturday October 12 and is the first of three Group 1 races at Caulfield on Guineas day.

A field of eight have accepted for the $1 million Group 1 and Mr Brightside is the hot favourite at around the $1.50 mark after the barrier draw.

This will be his final start before the Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 28, a race that he narrowly missed out on claiming last year when runner-up behind the champion Hong Kong galloper, Romantic Warrior.

Mr Brightside has had three runs this time in and did all the chasing behind Pride Of Jenni over the 1600m in the Feehan Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley at his last start, going 13 lenghts faster than standard benchmark, which is the best last start figure of any runner.

Interestingly, when stepping up to the 2000m at his last preparation, he could only manage 5th in the Australian Cup (2000m) and that is something that roughie players can keep in mind.

Atishu is rated as the best chance of causing an upset and is on the short back-up after placing 6th in the Turnbull Stakes (2000m). The Chris Waller mare claimed the Champions Stakes (2000m) off a one-week break last year.

Three runners come out of the Underwood Stakes (1800m) that was taken out by Buckaroo. They are Deny Knowledge (5th), Coco Sun (6th) and Vow And Declare (7th). Buckaroo has since finished a narrow runner-up behind Via Sistina in the Turnbull.

Deny Knowledge was fresh off a nine-week break dna was posted wide without cover but did well to stick on. But it is hard to see any of that trio troubling Mr Brightside.

Kalapour, Adelaide River and Jennilala are the others in the race. All will need to improve on what they have shown so far this time in. Adelaide River is a likely scratching with connections opting to race in Sydney on the weekend.

Without Pride Of Jenni in the race, it is impossible to go past Mr Brightside. The Team Hayes galloper drawa barrier 1 and should tuck in just behind the speed that Deny Knowledge is likely to set. The field will string out a little bit, allowing Craig Williams to slide out before pulling the trigger. This is a bit of a no betting race for me but multi players should lock in Mr Brightside.

Place value lies with Vow And Declare, who should be better out to the 2000m after two runs this time in. The veteran will enjoy what should be a solid tempo up front and wont be far away in the early to middle stages. The 2019 Melbourne Cup (3200m) winner went 14.8 lenghts faster than standard the last time he tackled the Caulfield 2000m, while he was runner-up in this race last year at a similar stage behind Alligator Blood.
