Blue Diamond Stakes Tips - Field Of Play to go on with the job, while a roughie can run into a minor placing

It shapes as a wide-open Blue Diamond Stakes in 2025 with not much separating the colts and geldings from the fillies in the respective lead up races. 

Field Of Play is unbeaten in two career starts and holds slight favouritism. The Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young-trained galloper claimed the Blue Diamond Prelude (C&G) ahead of Devil Night a fortnight ago, going 6.1 lengths faster than standard, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced. 

6 runners come out of that race and the son of Deep Field did look to have the measure over his rivals but their should be improvement to come from some of them in the early stages of their career. 

Palm Angel took out the Fillies Prelude, taking her record to two wins from three starts. She went 2.6 lengths faster than standard benchmark. My Gladiola, Wiltshire Square and Miss Celine filled the first four in that race. 

The Playwright and Tempted come down from Sydney with the latter getting the edge over that horse in the Widden Stakes, going four lengths faster than standard. 

Tempted is one of two for Godolphin, with the other being Tentyris, who is on the short back up after dead-heating at Flemington last weekend. 

The Playwright is expected to head forward to lead, while My Gladiola and Wiltshire Square draw wide and might head across from their barriers. Field Of Play, Devil Night and Palm Angel draw within the first five and can tuck in just behind. They might land in the sweet spot, while Olatunde and Tentyris also map well. Tempted, Miss Celine and Cherish Me will head back, as will Autumn Mystery, who is a roughie that produced the fastest last 200m in the Prelude for the colts and geldings. 

Field Of Play looks to be a solid contender in the Blue Diamond Stakes. He has done everything right so far and did the job in style in his final lead up run, accounting for the rest of the colts and geldings, settling handy before being strong at the business end. He is mapped to enjoy a similar run in transit and should have more to offer at what will be just his third career start. 

One that I think can go close to a top three finish at massive odds is Autumn Mystery. The barrier draw does really hurt his chances but he went to the line untested with plenty to offer in the Prelude for the colts and geldings when 6th behind Field Of Play. Despite the lack of room, the son of The Autumn Sun closed off with the fastest last 400m and 200m. The slight step up in trip will suit and this is a wide-open race. With any luck, he can run on late in the piece to feature in the finish.
