Ohope Wins and Belle Cheval come over from New Zealand both profiling as excellent 2000m horses and continuing a recent trend of New Zealand success in this race with Orchestral and Prowess among two of the last three winners with Treasurethe Moment scoring for the locals in 2025. 

Ohope Wins has been transferred to the Chris Waller stable and comes off three straight wins since stepping up to the 2000m with her latest coming in the New Zealand Oaks (2400m). Belle Cheval gets up in trip after finishing runner-up behind Well Written in the Kiwi (1500m) three weeks ago

The local challenge is headed by Salty Pearl, who has been competitive behind the top fillies at shorter trips and now steps to 2000m off a strong last start performance at Caulfield. After Summer ties into the same form race with a strong figure despite finishing midfield, while Panova remains a runner with upside if the race is run to suit her closing style. 

Another from the Waller stable, she comes out of slowly run races and heads into this third up. Her best came with a few runs under the belt at her last preparation and we can expect her to be running on. 

Long Legs is the likely leader on what might be a muddling tempo, with After Summer just behind her. Salty Pearl maps to settle just behind the speed, giving her the opportunity to control her position in what may not be a strongly run race. She can utilise her sit-sprint at her first go at the trip.

Ohope Wins and Belle Cheval settle midfield or slightly worse, while Panova drifts back and will need tempo to bring her into the race. Overall, the map favours runners that can settle in the first half of the field and sprint off a moderate tempo.

Salty Pearl profiles as the best local chance and the runner with the most upside stepping to 2000m. Her recent win was dominant on the clock and visually, showing a strong turn of foot and the ability to sustain speed through the line, which is critical in a race that may not be run at a high tempo.

She has already proven competitive against the better fillies in her age group and now gets conditions to suit, with a map that allows her to settle in a forward position and avoid giving away a start. If the race develops into a tactical affair, she is ideally placed to take control at the right time and prove very difficult to run down.

Outside of the top four in the market, Long Legs is the runner that could cause a blowout at odds, particularly if the race is run at a bit of a crawl. Her two runs this preparation have been ok in weaker company at Warwick Farm over the unsuitable 1400m at Warwick Farm before a solid last start effort that saw her place 4th in the Kembla Grange Classic (1600m), a race that has been a solid lead up towards this in the past, particularly with lightly raced types that are on the up. She settled handy last time in and landed within half a length Feminino. She had trialled well ahead of Vauban prior to that and while there are some queries around her class, she has been specked at odds after drawing barrier 1. She is the type of runner who can outperform market expectations in the right race shape.
