Australian Oaks Tips - Another moment to treasure for star filly, while beautifully bred galloper can surprise at odds

Can Treasurethe Moment continue her winnng streak?
The VRC Oaks (2500m) winner from the spring will be going for the double and is the odds-on favourite to claim the Australian Oaks.
Trained by Matt Laurie, the daugther of Alabama Ecpress will be going for her eighth straight win and has had three runs this time in, coming off a last start victory in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes.
She is around the $1.60 mark in current markets and has proven staying ability. She has drawn barrier 2 for the 2400m race, with in-form jockey Damian Lane, who has won the race in the past two years, retaining the ride.
The main challenge to her dominance comes from the New Zealand-trained Leica Lucy, a strong contender at $4.80. Trained by Chris Waller, Leica Lucy has been in stellar form, winning her last five starts, including the Group 1 NZ Oaks.
She draws alonside Treasurethe Moment in barrier 1 and gets the steer from the champion jockey James McDonald aboard. She looms as the likely challenger.
Other notable runners include Belle Detelle ($8), who has won back-to-back races and is aiming to complete the Adrian Knox Stakes (2000m) – Australian Oaks double, and Verona Rose ($10), who is coming off a solid finish in the Vinery Stud Stakes.
New Zealand filly Dubai Goldrush, a runner-up in the NZ Oaks, is also seen as a value bet at $11.
2025 Australian Oaks Speed Map
Not huge amounts of speed here. Treasurethe Moment has landed in the first few in the majority of her runs and is likely to be prominent, while Leica Lucy might kick up from the inside barrier. You Wahng is another that is likely to be handy. Belle Detelle and Verona Rose are likely to be second half of the field.
2025 Australian Oaks Best Bet
Impossible to go past Treasurethe Moment. The picket fencer has lost just twice in her career, with those runs coming in her first three starts when first up over shorter trips. She has oozed class so far this preparation and the fact that she has proven herself over the distance suggests she should have more to come. The obvious danger is Leica Lucy, who comes over from New Zealand with some serious credentials, having won six of seven, including the New Zealand Oaks (2400m) at her last start. The only knock on her is that she travels at the end of a long preparation.
2025 Australian Oaks Value Bet
Miss Alexis has been specked at a bit of a price and the Ciaron Maher filly did produce a bit of an eye-catching run in one of the key lead ups to this, the Adrian Knox Stakes (2000m) at Randwick last week. Stepping up from the 1600m, the daughter of Dundeel out of the outstanding mare, Jameka, was back in the field of 15 then lost ground at the 400m but kept coming at the business end to place 5th. She has got staying ability all over her and we must respect the breeding. Expect her to go well.
