Makybe Diva Stakes History
First minted in 1948 the Makybe Diva Stakes has a strong history on the Melbourne racing scene.
First ran as the Craiglee Stakes, this event was first ran at the 2000m distance before moving to the mile journey at 1965, the trip it is currently running at today.
The race had its name changed to the Makybe Diva Stakes in 2007 in honour of the three-time Melbourne Cup winner and had its grading moved to Group 1 status six years later.
A number of high quality runners have taken out this race, including Light Fingers, Zabeel, Northerly, Humidor, Weekend Hussler, Incentivise and Shocking.
