Magic Millions 2YO Classic Tips - Sydney form to prevail in the Magic Millions

The Magic Millions 2YO Classic will be held on Saturday January 11 at the Gold Coast and sees the youngsters run around for $3 million in prizemoney.  

The two-year-olds feature in the $3 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) and the betting markets are wide open with Invincible Woman and Icarian Dream vying for favouritism at around the $6 quote, just ahead of Gallo Nero, Le Bella Boom and Memo, who are just under double figures. 

A field of 16 will be in action in the 1200m scamper at the Gold Coast. 17 of the 21-horse field (including the five emergencies) had their last start in Queensland. 

Invincible Woman has had just the one run for a dominant victory at Caulfield on December 14 over the 1100m, leading all the way to defeat Zouclaire by three lenghts, running 1:04.15 on the Caulfield Heath. 

Icarian Dream took out the BJ McLachlan Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm last month and is one of five contenders to come out of that lead up. Cool Archie was runner-up, while The Playwright was 3rd. 

Gallo Nero is a last start Randwick winner over the 1000m that came home in 33.92 over the last 600m. He draws barrier 5 and should enjoy a nice trail into the race. Memo was 3rd in the same race. 

La Bella Boom is on the short back-up after trouncing her rivals in the Aquis Gold Pearl (1100m) at the Sunshine Coast last weekend. Quietly Arrogant took out the colts and geldings version of that race. 

Pace looks rock solid here with O’Ole, Space Rider among the lkely leaders, while The Playwright, Invincible Woman, Hi Barbie and Lovebug among those that might push across from there respective barriers. Gallo Nero, Vein Girl and Secret Sort can tuck in just behind. Quietly Arrogant, Memo and Icarian Dream are among those that might get back. Icarian Dream draws widest. 

Keen on Gallo Nero in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic. The Hawkes-trained galloper has had the two career runs and should be ready to peak for a big effort at the Gold Coast. He debuted with a 4th at Rosehill behind The Playwright then showed improvement at his second start to score over the 1100m at Randwick, winning with a bit in hand, while showing some good pace at the business end. A slight firmer in the early betting, the son of Wootton Bassett should enjoy the run of the race from the barrier will be ridden by Tyler Schiller, who strikes at 23% when combining with the stable, providing a 32% profit on turnover for punters. 

With showers forecast to hit the Gold Coast in the 24 hours leading up to the race and on the day, The Playwright comes under consideration after her debut win ahead of some of the key fancies for this race. That came back in late November at Rosehill on a Soft track and she went a healthy 5.9 lenghts faster than standard benchmark, which is a better figure than what any horse in this race has produced. She could only manage 3rd behind Icarian Dream when stepping up to the 1200m at her recent start but that should top her off nicely and this will be her Grand Final. The Waterhouse/Bott galloper has been supported in the betting and will put herself into the contest early on with her speed. Blake Shinn rides nd strikes at 26% for the stable.
