The Golden Rose is a race run over 1400m at Rosehill Gardens for three-year-olds at set weights.
The race was first run in 1978 and has been won by some champion horses such as Kingston Town (1979), Flying Spur (1995) and The Autumn Sun (2018).

1. Militarise (2)
The Chris Waller trained Militarise rounded out his two-year-old season with back to back Group 1 victories in the Sires’ Produce Stakes and Champagne Stakes.
He came from a mile back when resuming in the Run To The Rose which is the traditional lead in race to this.
He recorded some supreme late sectionals to beat beaten less than a length off Cylinder and the blinkers go on.
2. Shinzo (10)
The 2023 Golden Slipper winner returns to Rosehill to launch his Spring campaign.
The son of Snitzel already has an Everest slot but Chris Waller and while this is not his Grand Final, he’ll be primed to perform first up.
He was impressive in his most recent trial and Ryan Moore will partner the colt from barrier 10.
3. Cylinder (3)
The deserving favourite after back-to-back wins to kick start this campaign.
Has two wins from three attempts here at Rosehill including the Run To The Rose two weeks ago and will have a fitness advantage on a few of these.
The one to beat.
4. King Colorado (9)
Won the Group 1 J.J Atkins at Eagle Farm during the Winter at just his third career starts proving that he has an enormous amount of upside.
Returned to the track to take on the older horse in the Winx Stakes first up where he finished just 2.4 lengths off the winner Fangirl.
With natural improvement and experience, he’ll only be better third up and is a major player.
5. Don Corleone (5)
Jumped awkwardly in the Run To Rose but made up plenty of ground late despite being three wide throughout.
This is still short of his preferred distance but he’ll take plenty of improvement out of that first up run.
6. Libertad (7)
The Annabel Neasham trained colt won at Group 3 level first up at this track and was far from disgraced in the Run To The Rose at his next start.
He settled third in the run and while a wall of horses went past him late, was beaten under two lengths.
7. Moravia (4)
Sent out at double figures in the Run To The Rose and almost caused an upset.
The son of Snitzel was beaten by a small margin and when you consider that was only his third career race starts, there is plenty that will think he can improve.
Tyler Schiller is riding really well right at the minute and will steer from barrier four.
8. Encap (3)
A very consistent young race horse who is yet to miss a place from five career race starts.
Brings in a different formline to the race after winning the Group 3 Ming Dynasty last start.
That win was at this track and distance and he has drawn to get a lovely run in transit from barrier three.
9. Butch Cassidy (8)
Beaten less than a length in the San Domenico first up and was one of the horse fighting out the finish in the Run To The Rose.
Ryan Maloney can cross over from barrier eight and lead the field and he’ll be giving them something to chase.
10. Nadal (13)
Broke through for his maiden win on the Kensington track first up with a dominant performance.
He franked that win by placing in the Run To The Rose proving he has a bright future.
Barrier doesn’t help his chances but he’s a talented individual.
11. Snapback (11)
Was impressive when winning his maiden on a heavy track first up at Goulburn. This is a much tougher ask.
12. General Salute (12)
Hasn’t been beaten far in both runs so far this prep and made up plenty of ground late in the Run To The Rose to be beaten less than a length.
Seems like a forgotten horse in the market and I wouldn’t be surprised if he runs a race at a big price.
13. Charm Stone (1)
The lone filly in the race but she is in cracking form.
The daughter of I Am Invincible has won both starts in Melbourne this prep including the Listed Atlantic Jewel at The Valley two weeks ago.
This is another step up in class but she’s flying!
