The Coolmore Classic is run over 1500m at Rosehill racecourse for fillies and mares under set weights and penalties conditions.

The Group 1 race was first run in 1973 and has been won by some quality females including Emancipation (1984), Sunline (2000,02) and more recently Espiona (2023).

We’ve given our thoughts on every single runner in the race and offer our betting plays below with best odds from BoomBet.

1. Zougotcha (2)

Returned to a semblance of her best when winning at Group 2 level first up, beating Lady Latina who has subsequently won a Group 1, after what was an ordinary spring campaign by her lofty standards.

A Group 1 winner at three, she won the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes at this track distance on this day last autumn.

Will be required to carry the top weight of 57kg but there can be no knock on her quality.

Produces her best ratings on a soft or heavy track so keep an eye on the weather heading into Saturday!

2.Revolutionary Miss (13)

Has been runner up twice from five starts at the top level but earns another crack having won back to back Group 3 events leading in.

Has been in the stables for quite some time so fitness should not be a concern but she has failed to win from three goes here at Rosehill.

Will need some luck from a tricky draw.

3. Semana (11)

Another mare racing really well at the moment and she has a win over Revolutionary Miss on the Gold Coast in January but does meet that mare 1kg worse at the weights in this event.

She had five weeks in between runs before coming out and winning a Group 3 race at Randwick and the 1500m may be of concern.

4. Vienna Princess (8)

Put together two nice wins during the spring including the Silver Eagle at Randwick and then finished within two lengths of the winner in the Golden Eagle over 1500m.

She made up plenty of ground late first up behind Zougotcha but meets that horse 2.5kg worse at the weights.

If a rock-hard track is produced her chances increase dramatically.

5. Hinged (15)

Incredibly has raced in Group 1 company 16 times in 31 career race starts but has just the single win at the highest level.

Has not won a race since her maiden Group 1 winner in the 2022 Surround Stakes on a heavy 10 track.
She’s going to have to recapture some form but we know her best is good enough to be in the mix.

6. Tropical Squall (17)

Won her second Group 1 when resuming in the Surround Stakes at just her seventh career race start.

The daughter of Prized Icon has been given 54.5kg as she steps out against the older snares for the first time and a horrible barrier to overcome.

7. Deny Knowledge (9)

Won first up at The Valley over 1500m to kick start her last campaign and managed to take out the Group 2 Matriarch at Flemington during Cup week.

This may be short of her preferred distance and she has failed in two attempts at Group 1 level.

8. Foxy Frida (12)

Closed out her spring campaign with a win in the Inglis Bracelet at Flemington directly after she was beaten 5.5 lengths in the Empire Rose.

She’s always performed credibly at Group 2/3 level but not sure she’s up to winning a race of this quality.

Her chances increase if the track is good.

9. Madame Pommery (16)

Another mare that has struggles at Group 1 level but been consistent in black type in the past.

She didn’t manage a Group 1 victory but that was on a heavy 10 and she has just the one placing from eight attempts on a good track.

First up run when beaten 3.3 lengths behind Zougotcha was fair and she drops 3.5kg for that effort.
Barrier doesn’t help.

10. Renaissance Woman (5)

Two-time Group 3 winner who was well off Zougotcha first up.

She will appreciate the step up in distance but I’m not sure she’s up to a race of this quality.

11. Yonce (1)

Ciaron Maher trained mare who has an excellent winning strike rate of seven wins from 10 career starts.

Broke through for her first black type win at Caulfield in February and will need to improve to be competitive at this level.

12. Barbie’s Fox (10)

Finished just over a length off the winner in the Group 1 Epsom in the spring but is yet to place in four attempts at the highest level.

Price seems correct.

13. Hell Hath No Fury (3)

Progressive mare who has managed to win three times from six starts this campaign.

She won her first black type race when scoring narrowly at Group 2 level last time out, beating Hinged in the process but meets that mare 1kg worse at the weights.

14. More Secrets (6)

Placed in last year’s Group 1 Queen Of The Turf carrying 57kg and a repeat of that effort would see right in this with just 51.5kg.

Was placed first up at Group 2 level at Randwick and the step up in distance will not be an issue.

She’s capable of producing a rating high enough to compete and is one that looks over the odds from the good draw.

15. Ausbred Flirt (18)

Only a somewhat lightly raced five-year-old mare who has been placed in eight of 16 career race starts.

Only has 51kg to carry in this event but would need to find a new level to be in the mix especially from barrier 18.

16. Jennilala (4)

Ciaron Maher has a nice, progressive and untapped mare on his hands in the shape of Jennilala who has now won four times from 10 starts.

She sat second in running when resuming at Flemington but quickly took over rounding the turn and kicked clear to score by over a length.

This is another step up in grade but she has a light weight and has drawn well.

17. Kimochi (14)

Won her first black type race when scoring at Group 2 level first up by a narrow margin at Randwick.

She then finished 3.7 lengths behind Tropical Squall in the Group 1 Surround Stakes but meets that filly 4kg better at the weights.

First go beyond 1400m and against the older mares she is a consistent performer with no weight!

18. Barby’s Doll (7)

Would be an incredible feat to go from maiden win in January at Pakenham to a Group 1 in March.

That’s what this filly is attempting and is rightly triple figure odds to do so.
