2024 Thousand Guineas Preview
A field of 13 have accepted for the Group 1 for the fillies and the Chris Waller-trained Aeliana heads the market after her last start win in the Carbine Club Stakes (1600m), ahead of another last start winner, Zeitung.
The latter claimed the Vanity (1400m) at Flemington and seven of the field of 13 come out of that race, including Matisse and Dominetta, who filled the minors.
Double Market represents a bit of x-factor and has looked good in her two wins to kick off her career, claiming the Fillies Classic (1600m) at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate day, while Superlicious and Stage N Screen were solid behind Catoggio in the Amanda Elliot at Flemington, placing 3rd and 4th.
Too Darn Lizzie is a possible leader, while Dominetta and Stage N Screen shouldn't be too far away in the run. Zeitung, Aeliana and Double Market have come from off the speed in their runs and are likely to settle back.
Fine conditions are forecast for Saturday and we are likely to be on a Good 4, with a possible upgrade to a Good 3 by the time the race rolls around.

2024 Thousand Guineas Best Bet
Hard to tip against Aeliana in the Thousand Guineas. The daughter of the former Cox Plate placegetter, Castelvecchio, benefitted from a six-week freshen up and has come out and claimed her past two, including her impressive 3.5 length romp in the Carbine Club Stakes, leaving the likes of the Caulfield Guineas (1600m) placegetter, Feroce, in her wake. Waller has a good record in this race and I expect her to have more in the tank at what will be her sixth run without a genuine spell.
2024 Thousand Guineas Value Bet
There are a few in this race that would not have reached their ceiling yet, including the unbeaten Double Market, as well as Superlicious and Stage N Screen. The latter were both impressive in the Amanda Elliot. Of that trio, Stage N Screen is one that might be able to improve. The Mark Walker-trained galloper was brave off a tough run last time when caught wide without cover for the entire trip and draws perfectly this time around in barrier 3. She can tuck in just behind the leaders here and if some of the other bigger names in the race are unable to get clear air from the back of the field, she is one that can capitalise.
