Following a disappointing last-start effort as favourite in the Toorak Handicap, the current campaign for Amelia's Jewel appeared to be in doubt, however, strong subsequent work has encouraged connections to push on and after shorter turnarounds this prep, three weeks between runs could be a blessing.

A winner of nine from 12 starts overall, she finished out of the money for the first time in her career via the Toorak Handicap and it's worth noting that last year's Golden Eagle winner (I Wish I Wish) was also a beaten fav in the Toorak before taking out this event

The son of I Am Invincible looks well suited out to 1500m now, with his last two victories coming over seven furlongs last autumn, while his recent form around Think About It, Private Eye and I Wish I Win reads superbly for this four-year-old feature.

Kovalica has been interestingly placed following a Queensland Derby triumph back in May, as he's been kept to these shorter trips despite seemingly crying for 2000m after competitive 1600m showings via his last two runs.

At $6, Kovalica shares the third line of betting with Legarto, a talented New Zealand-based mare who won the Australian Guineas at Flemington in March before a spell.

With a Group 1 placing followed by a Listed win as an odds-on fav in the Matamata Cup on October 7, the daughter of Proisir is ticking over well so far this campaign.

Rounding out the single-figure chances is Obamburumai ($8), a lightly raced Japanese visitor who has won two Group races in the 1400m-1600m range.
