Run as the Kingston Town Classic from 2007 to 2021, the Northerly Stakes is the final Group One of the calendar year in Australia.

Ladbrokes has Zaaki as a $2.50 favourite to win the 2023 Northerly Stakes, with the Annabel Neasham-trained gelding aiming for his fifth Group 1 victory.

Although he hasn't tasted Group 1 success this year, the veteran did prevail over this 1800m journey when taking the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes at the Sunshine Coast in May, while he has been competitive in four runs this campaign.

Zipaway ($8) is looking to follow a similar path to his sire Playing God, who won the 2010 edition of this race after taking out the WA Guineas, although the Guineas was run earlier in the spring when Playing God saluted.

Keshi Boom was scratched from the WA Guineas, with the Grant & Alana-trained galloper not recovering in time following a Group 3 triumph in the Champion Fillies Stakes on November 18.

She's unbeaten from four career starts and will profile well should she take her place in the Northerly Stakes, given three-year-old fillies have won four of the last eight editions of this Group 1.

Keshi Boom shares a $9 quote with Zoumon, an interstate raider who hasn't been knocked about by a long spring in the east, having only completed two runs this prep.
