The 2025 Australasian Oaks promises to be a hotly contested affair, with several quality fillies staking their claims.

Leading the charge is Benagil, who comes off a last start runner-up behind Treasurethe Moment in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at Randwick. That looks to be good form for this and the Glen Thompson galloper comes into this fourth up. She just needs to negotiate barrier 13

Nine contenders come out of the Auraria Stakes (1800m), which is always one of the key lead up’s towards the Oaks. Cinch led all the way to take out that race from All Kinds Of Folk, who just peaked late. A coulpe of others in Cavity Bay and Pelevecchio caught the eye from further back.

The Chris Waller galloper, Movin Out, comes over on the short back-up after claiming the Mornington Guineas (1600m) last weekend and is definitely worth some thought. Waller won this race in 2020 with Toffee Tongue.

Another big name trainer, Gai Waterhouse, teams up with Adrian Bott to saddle up Too Darn Lizzie, who comes off a last start runner-up behind Cilacap in the Alexandra Stakes (1600m) at Flemington. She was runner-up behind Treasurethe Moment at Flemington prior to that.

Polymnia comes over from Sydney and is another with a last start runner-up under her belt with that coming in the Adrian Knox Quality (2000m).

Cinch led them up in the Auraria Stakes but it is Too Darn Lizzie that is likely to take up the running, while she can tuck in just behind. They might go at an even tempo then look to get a mid-race breather with Phenom, Sweltering, Comanche Miss and Beautiful Jewel sitting just behind. Expect them to bunch up at the 800m-600m with Movin Out, Cavity Bay and Femminile among those leading the peloton. Benagil, Poymnia, All Kinds Of Folk and Pelevecchio will be saved for one last burst down the straight.

2025 Australasian Oaks Best Bet

Hard to go past Benagil in the Australasian Oaks. Polymnia is another that must be respected coming down from Sydney but the form around Treasurethe Moment stands out, coming in with the best last start figures of any runner in this race after her effort to run just over a length away, a margin that might have been slightly closer if she wasn't held up in the early stages of the straight. She enjoyed a big gap on the rest of them that day and was an impressive Caulfield winner prior to that.

2025 Australasian Oaks Value Bet

All Kinds Of Folk is probably the one that can improve enough out of the Auraria Stakes to take this out. She came home with the fastest 400m-200m split when doing all the chasing before just peaking late. Extra 200m looks like it will suit the Wangaratta galloper, who was a 12-length Maiden winner at Benalla prior to her Morphettville run. She is the value at the quote.
