Doomben racing takes place on Saturday, August 16 with a 9-race program set down for Doomben racetrack.

The Team Munce-trained galloper is high-flying this campaign and lines up here worthy of some thought in taking out the major prize for this event.

Last start, the Deep Field mare came off a first-up win at the Gold Coast when she took on Class 3 company and beat all but one home, here over the 1350m trip.

Slowly away, she settled back in the field before finishing strongly, beaten less than half a length on the line.

Meeting BM70 opposition here, she draws gate six and maps to settle back behind the speed with Siobhan Rutledge retaining the ride.

Fitter for two runs back, the four-year-old looks a tad overs here and is well worth a ticket on both totes for this contest.

Race 3: No.10 Surprise Honey

The Tony Gollan-trained galloper is second-up here and looks well placed to go one better in this event.

Last start the well-bred Extreme Choice mare resumed after five months off the scene and with Emily Lang aboard, beat all but one to the line in a BM65 over 1000m at Eagle Farm.

She settled mid-field early before working her way to the front, only to come across one better on the day, taking home the silver medal for the race.

Jumping from gate six here, the four-year-old maps to settle better than mid-field and has Lang sticking with her for the challenge.

Well weighted here, she will strip fitter for that first-up run and with a trouble-free run, looks the pick of the crop in this contest.

Race 6: No.13 Spywire

Ciaron Maher saddles-up Spywire here who is third-up and down in grade, looks a prime candidate for the winner’s cheque in this event.

Last start, the Trapeze Artist gelding was second-up and found the podium again when finishing third in a strong BM78 over 1200m at Rosehill.

Coming back to Class 3 company here, he draws out in gate 10 but his early gate speed sees him settling better than mid-field with Ryan Maloney back for his second ride on the four-year-old.

Already a winner when third-up, he looks in the mix in this contest.
