Race 3: No.3 Tasman Bay
The locally-trained galloper is high-flying this time in and looks well placed here to claim victory in this event.
Last start, the Zousain mare was shooting for the hat-trick when she stepped-up in grade and did well to take home third prize in a Class 2 Hcp over 1110m at Doomben.
Anthony Allen had her leading on settling and setting a solid pace from the outset, set sail for home and had a good break on them but she was run down by two better on the day, having to settle for the minor prize in the race.
On a short seven-day back-up here, she gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to lead them from barrier rise and with Allen in the saddle again, the five-year-old will strip even fitter and give them something to chase in this contest.
Race 5: No.6 Hot Majesty
The Tony Gollan-trained galloper is third-up here and looks ready to return to the winner’s circle in this event.
Last start, the prolific placegetter made it podium finish number 12 (from 21 starts) when he claimed third prize in a No Metro Wins Hcp, here over 1800m.
From gate nine (of 10), Daniel Moor had him settled mid-field to the turn, then coming off heels, he found his way to be trailing just two others and chased them both all the way home to finish with the minor prize, beaten less than two lengths on the line.
Drawn in gate six here, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen with Moor steering the ship again after finishing in the minor money in all five starts at the track, he now looks ready for a change of luck and is capable of claiming victory in this contest.
Race 6: No.5 Fireforce
Kelly Schweida saddles-up Fireforce here who is high flying after two starts back and ticks the right boxes here to suggest he can take home the gold medal from this event.
Last start, the Cosmic Force gelding was second-up and showing plenty of improvement, took out a BM65 Hcp over 1100m at Ipswich.
Drawn the fence, Cejay Graham had him box-seating on settling and trailed the leader to the turn, then securing a rails-run as the leader hung out, found the front inside the final 200m and went on with it to claim victory by almost a length on the line.
Meeting similar company here, he draws well in gate four and maps to be box-seating again with Emily Pozman as the new pilot and after her claim, the five-year-old carries a kilo less than that last start win.
Placed in all three previous runs at the track and distance, he looks set for back-to-back in this contest.
