Belmont racing takes place on Wednesday, September 9 with an 8-race program set down for the Belmont racetrack.

The Team Gangemi-trained galloper is second-up here and ticks the right boxes that suggest he will play a major role in the outcome of this event.

Last start, the King's Troop gelding resumed off a 10-week spell and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth in a One Metro Win Hcp, here over 1000m.

Drawn wide that day, Steven Parnham settled him at last to the turn before threading his way through traffic then after being held-up several times, found clean air and hit the line well, beating more than half the field home in the process.

Fitter for that run, he draws gate six and maps to settle back in his usual role with Steven Parnham retaining the ride.

Already a winner when second-up and a two-time winner at the track, with a little more luck in running, he could prove hard to hold out in this contest.

Race 6: No.8 Cassandra

Team Williams saddle-up Cassandra here who was impressive on debut and looks every chance of back-to-back success in this event.

Last start, the Exceedance filly made her racing debut and did it in style when she claimed victory in a set weights Maiden over 1300m at Pinjarra.

From a wide gate, William Pike settled her last in the field before tracking wide on the turn, then timing his run to perfection, Pike asked her for a final effort in the run home and she duly obliged, arriving in time to claim a debut victory on the line.

Drawn much better here in gate two, she maps to do no early work as she settles back in the field with Pike at the helm again

Facing Class 1 company here, the step-up to the 1400m looks ideal for her now and with a clear run to the line, the three-year-old should be there at the finish of this contest.

Race 8: No.8 Surround Me

The Team Williams-trained galloper is three starts into this preparation and should now be ready to produce her best in this event.

Last start, the So You Think mare was third-up when she finished fifth in a Class 3 Hcp on a Heavy 9 at Northam.

William Pike had her settled fourth on the fence to the turn, where he elected to remain inside with the track bias strongly favouring the outside fence and in the run home, the three placegetters finished out wide, with Surround Me stuck inside and did well to finish less than three lengths from the winner.

From gate six, she maps to settle near mid-field with cover and has Pike in the saddle again for this assignment.

Already a track and distance winner and with a forecast Soft 6 to race on, the six-year-old looks in the mix for a podium finish in this contest.
