Race 2: No.6 Tara I Am

The Stephen Rundle-trained galloper is unbeaten this preparation and looks well placed here to remain that way in this event.

Last start, the Jungle Cat mare made it back-to-back success when she took out a Class 2 Hcp, here over 1100m.

Regular rider Raul Silvera Olivera had her box-seating on setting to the turn, then on straightening, came off the leader’s heels and gradually wore down the deficit and grabbed victory on the post.

From gate five today, she maps to cross and be just off the speed with Silvera Olivera in the saddle again.

This BM65 looks no harder and coming off a seven-week let-up, she will be fresh and hard to beat in this contest.

Race 4: No.2 Miss Moneypenny

The Lachie Manzelmann-trained galloper is high-flying this time in and looks a genuine winning chance in this event.

Last start, the Spirit of Boom mare was shooting for the hat-trick when she disappointed in finishing fourth in a Class 3 Plate over 1400m at Birdsville.

Overracing most of the way, she settled outside the leader to the turn, then was unable to go on with it in the run home, possibly not suited to the dirt track.

Back on turf today, she draws well in gate four and maps to settle mid-field or better with Aidan Holt as the new pilot.

A winner in Class 6 company two starts back, the big drop in grade should see her fighting out the finish in this contest.

Race 7: No.8 Heathcliff

Lachie Manzelmann saddles-up Heathcliff here who is in good touch this campaign and after two starts for his new stable, he looks ready to produce his best in this event.

Last start, the Snitzel gelding showed plenty of improvement off his Cloncurry effort when he finished a close-up fourth in a Class 1 Hcp over 1200m at Townsville.

From a wide gate, Adam Sewell settled him last of the 11 runners on the fence to the turn, then after being held up most of the way, finished strongly on the inside to finish just behind the placegetters, beaten a length on the line.

The step-up to the mile trip here looks ideal where he jumps from gate seven and maps to settle near mid-field with cover and Sewell steering the ship again.

He sees his new home track for the first time today and with a trouble-free run, he should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
