Swan Hill Racing Tips for June 7 – Electric Impulse to land the Swan Hill Cup

Here are our best bets from the meeting, which also feature in our coverage of racing from around Australia in our Sunday tips.

We open up with a Maiden over the 975m and Tatakai Uta is the one they have to beat. The Mitchell Freedman-trained galloper has finished runner-up in each of his two career starts to date and resumed at Bendigo last month but was unable to reel in Path Of Heroes. The form out of that has seen the 4th placegetter go on to score and he went 1.9 lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is three lengths better than the next best last start figures of any runner. The son of Supido saves ground from the inside barrier and will be hard to hold out late in the piece. 

We stretch out over the 2400m in Race 4 and Unseen Ruler has the class to take this out. The six-year-old was a very respectable 5th in the Warrnambool Cup (2350m) two starts back after a bit of a tough run before tackling a BenchMark 84 over the 2400m journey last time and placing 6th behind Khor. He will find this easier and will appreciate a slightly firmer track, while it is worth noting that he has had success at Swan Hill in the past. 

Per Sempre should be hard to beat in Race 5, coming off a last start 3rd at Sandown. The six-year-old was held up at the 400m but worked home strong to land just over half a length behind Dreamzel. She comes into this fourth up and really hit her straps at this stage of her last preparation when winning three on the trot. The daughter of Per Incanto will appreciate a solid tempo in this and is a great chance of running over the top of them late with Brad Rawiler in the saddle. 

Going with Electric Impulse in the Swan Hill Cup. The Henry Dwyer-trained galloper resumed in a Saturday race at Sandown recently over the 1400m and settled well back from the wide gate before working home well for 3rd behind Meridius, going a healthy 11 lengths faster than standard benchmark. She has won three of his past four races over the mile and will appreciate the further distance, while she should be able to settle alot closer this time around from the inside gate.
