Race 8: No.4 Rising Force
The Ricky Yiu-trained galloper is high-flying after two starts back and ticks all the boxes here that suggest he will be hard to beat in this event.
Last start, the Deep Field gelding came off an impressive first-up win, here from the outside gate (14), when he drew the gate and beat all but one home in Class 3 company over 1200m.
Richard Kingscote backed-up for the ride and from his wide draw, crossed to eventually lead (passing the 800m mark) before leading them into the straight and brave in defeat, unable to beat off the only challenger, who had to run 1:08.6 to win the race in the end.
Scoring an ideal draw in gate three, the four-year-old maps to be setting the pace again but will use a lot less early fuel at from the good draw with Kingscote steering the ship again.
A true track specialist, he is already a two-time winner here over the 1200m and even fitter with two runs under his belt, he looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 10: No.9 Sky Vino
Caspar Fownes saddles-up Sky Vino here who is in great touch of late and in current form, he can give this event a real shake at odds today.
Last start, the American-sired gelding found his mojo and took out a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1650m.
Having his seventh ride on the gelding, Ellis Wong settled him back in the field and on the turn, was still ten lengths off the lead before scouting wide where he finished like a train, arriving in time grab victory on the line.
Stepping-up to the 2000m today, he draws gate nine and maps to settle back again with Wong retaining the ride for this assignment.
Back in winning form now, the extra trip looks ideal for him and with a clear run to the line, the four-year-old looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
Race 11: No.10 Juneau Pride
The John Size-trained galloper has been knocking on the door at his past couple of outings looks well placed here to figure in the finish of this event.
Last start, the Pride of Dubai gelding made it back-to-back minor money finishes when he collected third prize in a Class 3 Hcp, here over 1400m with Brenton Avdulla aboard.
Settling fourth early, one off the fence, he travelled well to the turn before putting in a final effort and chasing hard all the way home, wasn’t disgraced by finishing 1.5 lengths from the winner (Emblazon), who he clashes with meets much better at the weights today.
From gate ten, he maps to use his early gate speed and settle better than mid-field with Andrea Atzeni as the new pilot.
Boasting three wins at the track and distance already, the four-year-old looks a serious winning chance in this contest.
