Race 4: No.4 Under Influence
The Team Pearce-trained galloper is second-up today and ticks all the boxes here that suggest he is the one to beat in this event.
Last start, the American-sired gelding resumed after six months off the scene and impressed when beating all but one home in a Class 5 Hcp, here over 1000m.
He settled last out of the gates with William Pike aboard for the eighth time and after enjoying a trail to the turn, then came off heels before running home down the centre of the track and looked the winner but his condition gave out in closing stages, still hanging on for the silver medal in the race.
Meeting similar company here, he draws to do no early work in gate three where he maps to settle back again with Pike retaining the ride for this assignment.
Already a two-time winner when second-up and a proven track specialist, a trouble-free run here should see him there at the finish of this contest.
Race 5: No.5 Thor’s Angel
The Brandon Fiore-trained galloper has found her mojo recently and ideally placed here, looks set to give this event a real shake.
Last start, the Power mare came off a big maiden win at Northam when she did well to beat all but one home in a 2100m Hcp at Belmont.
Lucy Fiore settled her just behind the speed where she remained until the turn before coming off heels and in the run home, took control inside the final 200m looking the winner but was grabbed by a swooper right on the line, leaving her with second prize in the race.
Ideally drawn in gate two here, she maps to be sitting just behind the speed again with Fiore steering the ship for the seventh time in this assignment.
In career-best form, the four-year-old looks a serious contender in this contest.
Race 8: No.3 Rainline
Team Pearce saddle-up Rainline here who is in good touch after this preparation and with just a little luck from the draw, can figure in the finish of this event.
Last start, the Rommel mare came off back-to-back top-two finishes when she took home fourth prize in a Rating60+ Hcp, here over 1400m.
William Pike was aboard that day and had the mare settled two pairs back before coming off heels and on the corner was caught flat-footed but regained momentum and ran home strongly to finish just behind the placegetters, nosed out of the minor money on the line.
Dropping back to the 1200m trip here, she draws gate nine and maps to cross and settle better than mid-field with Holly Nottle back on board after steering the mare to victory previously.
Fourth-up and at her peak here, she is already a winner at the track and with some running room out wide, the four-year-old can make amends in this contest.
