Race 4: No.9 Hellarious
The Team Sears-trained galloper is high-flying after two starts back and looks set for the hat-trick in this event.
Last start, the Hellbent mare came off a first-up maiden win at the synthetic track at the Gold Coast when she franked that effort by going back-to-back in a Class 1 Hcp over 1300m on the Gold Coast’s turf track.
Mark Du Plessis sent her straight to the lead on settling and from there, ran them off their legs, putting four lengths on the big 16-strong field that day.
From gate seven here, she maps to settle near the speed with Du Plessis in the saddle again.
Stepping-up to BM70 company here, she should be near her peak now and unbeaten this preparation, she can go on with it in this contest.
Race 5: No.4 Saint Aldwyn
The Kelly Schweida-trained galloper is in career-best form of late and ticks enough boxes here to suggest he will take beating in this event.
Last start, the Zoustar gelding rang-up a third win in his past four starts when he took out a BM70 over 1350m at Ipswich.
Settling just behind the speed, Kyle Wilson-Taylor had him poised one off the fence before coming off heels on the turn, then in the run home, finished too strong for them in the end, claiming a half-length victory on the line.
Well drawn in gate two here, he maps to be sitting just behind the speed with Corey Sutherland back looking for his second win on the three-year-old.
In top-shelf form at the moment and already a winner at the track, he looks a major player for victory in this contest.
Race 6: No.3 Easy Love
David Vandyke saddles-up Easy Love here who is third-up and looks a serious threat in this event.
Last start, the Love Conquers All mare came off a big first-up win at Ipswich when she stepped-up in grade and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth in the Class 4 Hcp over 1680m at the Ipswich track again.
Jag Guthmann-Chester had her box-seating on settling to the turn before coming off heels and in the run home loomed as a winning chance but was nosed out of a podium finish on the line, having to settle for fourth prize on the day.
Taking on similar company here, she draws nicely in gate four and maps to settle in the first three or four runners with Guthmann-Chester retaining the ride.
Already a winner when third-up and has had success at the track and trip as well, she looks the testing material in this contest.
