Race 4: No.6 The Messiah
The Greg Cornish-trained galloper has found her mojo after four starts back and looks well placed here for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start the Pariah mare broke through for her first career win when she destroyed her rivals in a Maiden Hcp over 1650m at Beaudesert.
She settled just off the pace early before Jaden Lloyd was unhappy with the speed, pushing the mare to the front passing the 800m mark, then in the run home, put a space on them, crossing the line 5.5 lengths clear in the end.
Dropping back to the 1500m trip here, she faces BM0-55 opposition today and from an ideal draw in gate two, maps to settle in the first half-dozen on the fence with Lloyd remaining aboard for this assignment.
Now in winning form, the four-year-old can give a bold sight with her first look at the Kilcoy track in this contest.
Race 5: No.7 Gagnante Enchere
The Shaun Dwyer-trained galloper is in good touch after two starts back and dropping back to country class racing, looks a solid chance for victory in this event.
Last start, the Zousain mare came off a first-up win at the Sunshine Coast when she lined-up in a city-class event and did well to finish fourth in Class 3 company over 1000m at Eagle Farm.
Settling worse than mid-field early, she was held-up on the turn and in the run home, never saw daylight until the final 150m where she hit the line strongly from there and could be considered unlucky not to secure a podium finish in the day.
The step-up to the 1200m in country class company looks a double bonus for her today where she draws gate five and maps to settle better than mid-field with a nice trail.
Corey Sutherland is the new pilot and with that extra ground to run over, the four-year-old will take some beating in this contest.
Race 7: No.1 Captain Eagle
The Team Hulbert-trained galloper has been thereabouts in his three starts back this preparation and dropping in grade today, looks set to give this event a real shake.
Last start, the Per Incanto gelding stepped-up in class and finished mid-field in a BM70 Hcp over 1710m at Ipswich.
Mark Du Plessis took him to the lead on settling where he set an even tempo before stepping-up the pace at the 600m mark, then in the run home, looked set for a podium finish but was swamped inside the final 100m, finishing fifth of the nine runners in the end.
Lining-up in an easier BM55 today, he draws gate nine where he maps to push forward and settle with the leading bunch as Bailey Wheeler returns to steer the ship for this assignment.
Fourth-up, at his peak and down in grade suggests he should prove hard to beat in this contest.
