Steve Bennett picks out his blackbookers and horses to follow from Saturday racing at Randwick on 23 May.

Race 2: Midway Hcp BM72 (1400m) – Perfect Justice

First-up on Saturday after five months off the scene, the John Sargent-trained gelding turned plenty of heads with his bold finish in this event.

Jumping from the car park (in gate 16), Siena Grima eased him back to settle last and was spotting the leaders a dozen lengths approaching the turn, where he weaved through traffic and putting in a superb final 150m, past all but the placegetters, beaten just half a length on the line.

Already a winner when second-up and third-up as well, find a spot for the four-year-old in your blackbook and watch for him in the future.

Race 6: BM78 Hcp (1400m) – Declichy Boulevard

The lightly-raced four-year-old was first-up on Saturday after more than 12 months off the scene when she came under notice with a big win in this event.

In the driving rain, the mare settled near last in the 15-strong field before pushing forward near the turn where Siena Grima weaved through gaps and after securing a run near the fence, finished best on the wettest part of the track to burst through and grab victory near the line.

Also a winner when second-up previously, the Chris Waller-trained galloper looks to have come back at her best and it will pay to follow her this campaign.

Race 9: BM78 Hcp (1000m) – Amazing Eagle

One of many first-up in this event, the Bjorn Baker-trained gelding faced his first heavy track and was impressive when beating all but one home.

Settling fourth, one off the fence, he enjoyed the trail into the home straight before being held-up looking for space between runners Nash Rawiller secured a path inside the final 150m and looked the winner but conceding 4.5kgs to Prima Bella, had to settle for second prize, beaten a head on the line on a Heavy 9 by that time.

Just seven career starts for the lightly-raced four-year-old where he has secured six podium finishes and placed twice in second-up appearances to date, he can go on with it from here.
