Caulfield Racing Tips for May 27 – Early money says Hayes filly will be hard to beat in Race 7
- Glenfinnian drops in grade and is set for a breakthrough win (Race 3).
- Yam set to improve further after a strong first-up showing (Race 6).
- Kiliana boasts class and form edge, especially suited in Race 7.
Caulfield racing takes place on Wednesday, May 27, with an eight-race program set down for Caulfield.
Here are our best bets from the meeting, which also features in our daily selections.
Race 3 No.1- Glenfinnian
This looks to be the one for Glenfinnian to break a drought that stretches over a year. The lightly raced five-year-old made an excellent start to his career with three wins from his first eight starts and wasnt at his best at his last preparation but has been knocking on the door without much luck in his four runs this time in. He botched the start in two runs at Sandown (3rd) and Pakenham (5th) over the 1400m before making ground to land within a couple of lengths. At his most recent assignment, the Mornington based galloper tackled the 1800m at the Heath and was held up at a vital stage in the straight before producing the fastest last 200m and running a half a length 4th behind Miracle Spin. He drops in grade for this and will enjoy what shapes as a solid tempo up front. Look for him to pick them up late in the piece.
Race 6 No.1- Yam
Nice first up effort by Yam at Bendigo over the 1400m on May 13 and the Wangaratta galloper can go one spot better here after narrowly missing out behind Dramaticus. At Bendigo, the five-year-old settled in the second pair in a race that developed into a sit sprint. He missed out by the barest of margins in a bid to reel in the eventual winner, who has just pinched a break. The son of Pluck took some time to get going in his career but his 2025 and early 2026 form has been excellent with five wins coming in his past 12 starts. He looks to have come back in good order once again and will strip fitter, while the large claim for Emily Pozman gets him down to a winnable weight.
Race 7 No.8- Kiliana
Keen on Kiliana in Race 7 of the day. The Hayes filly comes in with a month in between runs since her first up effort at Sale over the 1000m on April 19 when she led and gave a bit of a kick before being picked off in the shadows by Stormbourg. Those two enjoyed a two-length gap on the rest of them. A winner of two of her four career starts, the daughter of Brazen Beau comes in with a winning trial since then and was a six-length improver on benchmark figures at her only career second up run when going from a dominant Bendigo Maiden win to a 4th in the $1 million Showdown (1200m) last year behind McGaw. That horse then went on to knock over the likes of My Gladiola and Tentyris at Flemington a few starts later. A big firmer in the early betting after drawing barrier 3, she does look to have a class edge on this lot and handles Soft ground as well.
