Race 3: No.8 Victory Flame
The Team Archibald-trained galloper is in great touch of late and lines up here a genuine winning chance in this event.
Last start, the Pierata gelding clobbered his opposition in a BM80 here over 1800m.
From last on the home turn, he finished over the top of them, crossing the line two lengths clear in the end.
Dropping back to Class 3 company here, he goes up in weight but draws ideally in gate three where he maps to settle mid-field with cover.
Already a two-time winner here, a trouble-free run in this contest should see him very hard to beat.
Race 8: No.4 Maximum Vortex
The Ethan Ensby-trained galloper is second-up here and ticks enough boxes to suggest he is a serious player in this event.
Last start, the Kuroshio gelding resumed off a 10-week break and wasn’t disgraced when finishing fourth in an Open Sprint over 1210m at Lismore.
Lumping 63kgs on fresh legs, he tried to lead all the way but his condition (under the weight) gave in and he just missed out on a podium finish, beaten two lengths on the line.
Dropping in class (and weight) here, he has Emily Lang as the new pilot and from barrier eight, maps to settle better than mid-field.
A second-up specialist, he boasts three wins from four previous second-up appearances and looks well placed here and worth a ticket on both totes for this contest.
Race 9: No.2 Keitel
David Vandyke saddles-up Keitel here who is in good touch after three runs back and more than capable of taking out this event.
Last start, the Hellbent gelding came off a second-up win at the Sunshine Coast when he took on stronger company in the city and finished a creditable third in a BM90 over the Doomben mile.
Settling last in the field of eight, Jace McMurray steered him wide on the turn where he ran home strongly, arriving in time to grab the minor prize, beaten less than a length on the line.
This Class 6 looks no harder as Ryan Maloney takes the reins for the assignment and from the outside gate (11), he maps to drop back and trail the field early.
Fourth-up and at his peak here, he will be doing his best work in the run home and should play a role in the outcome of this contest.
