Newcastle racing takes place on Moday, October 26 with a 7-race program set down for the Beaumont racetrack.

We have the best bets picked from across the meeting with a Best Bet and other value selections for  Newcastle racetrack.

Race 1: No.7  Questionable

The John Cooper-trained galloper is in career-best form of late and looks the one to beat in this event.

Last start, the Stratum Star mare made it two wins from her past three starts when she took out a BM58 over 2200m at Dubbo.

Having her first ride on the mare, Anna Weatherlake had her box-seating on settling to the turn, then sticking to the fence found the front and after being headed briefly, her 8kg pull in the weights had her back in front and going on to score by more than a length on the line.

Facing BM66 company here, she draws well in gate three and maps to settle just behind the speed with Weatherlake retaining the ride.

After the claim, the mare carries 2kgs less than last start and with that weight advantage, should prove hard to hold out in this contest.

Race 4: No.6  Who Loves A Harley

The David Matts-trained galloper is high-flying this preparation and although up in grade today, still looks a winning chance in this event.

Last start, the Ilovethiscity gelding came off back-to-back runner-up finishes when he broke through in a Maiden Plate over 1400m at Grafton.

Ridden a treat by Ray Spokes, he settled mid-field between runners to the turn, then tracking wide, he found the front halfway down the straight before going on to score by almost three lengths on the line.

Stepping-up to Class 1 company here, he drops in weight and draws nicely in gate three where he maps to settle better than mid-field with Spokes steering the ship again.

A trouble-free run here should see the four-year-old in the mix and he looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.

Race 7: No.1  Jade Trees

Brett Dodson saddles-up Jade Trees here who is in top-shelf form this time in and looks well placed to go on with it in this event.

Last start, the Alabama Express gelding bounced back to record his third win in four starts this campaign when he took out a Class 3 Hcp over 1000m at Grafton.

Regular rider Grady Spokes settled him back in the small field before tracking wide on the turn, then despite spotting the leaders five lengths, still finished too strong for them and arrived in time to claim the gold medal in the race.

Ideally drawn in gate two, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen with Spokes at the helm again for this assignment.

This BM66 looks no harder and the step-up to the 1350m looks ideal for him now.

He is a winner on most surfaces and at his peak today, he looks a genuine winning chance in this contest.
