Race 3: No.3 Ollie’s Secret
The Jan Bowen-trained galloper is in great touch this time in and looks well placed here for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Adelaide-sired gelding impressed when winning a BM82 over 1400m at Mudgee.
Sitting second behind a tearaway leader, she closed the gap approaching the turn then soon after took over and in the run home, held off the challenges to claim victory over the line.
Meeting similar company here, she gets the gun-run from gate one and maps to settle on the speed with Mikayla Weir backing-up for the ride again.
Already a two-time winner at this level, a trouble-free run here can see her saluting again in this contest.
Race 6: No.8 Denman Force
The Brett Thompson-trained galloper drops in grade today and looks set to bounce back in this event.
Last start, the Denman gelding was shooting for the hat-trick when he stepped-up in grade and failed to fire in a strong Class 3 Hcp over 1000m at Gosford.
Colliding with another runner at barrier rise, he settled third on the fence before showing signs of weakening near the turn and from there, dropped out of contention, finishing last of the 12 runners.
Dropping back to BM66 company today, he gets all the favours from gate one where he maps to settle just behind the speed and has Jake Pracey-Holmes steering the ship again.
The stable fit the tongue tie for the first time today and already a winner at the track and trip, he looks at least an each-way chance in this contest.
Race 7: No.4 Gail Jeanette
Angus Stewart saddles-up Gail Jeanette here who is third-up and ticks all the boxes that suggest she will take beating in this event.
Last start, the well-bred Capitalist mare was second-up and showed plenty of improvement when she beat all but one home in a BM58 Hcp over 1000m at Parkes.
From gate nine (of 11), Dale Cole pushed forward to settle outside the leader to the turn, then soon after took control and looked the winner before being grabbed by one better on the day, finishing nearer the outside fence.
Drawn much better here in gate five, she maps to settle just behind the speed with Cole retaining the ride for this assignment.
Already a track and distance winner and has saluted third-up previously, meeting similar company today she looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 8: No.2 Sorrento Palace
Second-up today, the Brett Thompson-trained galloper drops sharply in grade and fitter for one run back looks a serious contender for the major prize in this event.
Last start, the Pierata mare resumed after six months off the scene and in need of the run, finished unplaced in a Class 3 Hcp over 1100m at Mudgee.
Jumping awkwardly, she pushed forward to settle third one off the fence and after racing greenly to the turn, had very little left to offer in the run home but finished never stopped chasing, without threatening.
Facing an easier task here against BM58 company, she draws gate seven and maps to settle better than mid-field with Jordan Quince as the new pilot.
The stable have removed the visors and put the blinkers back on for today’s assignment and already a winner when second-up, the four-year-old looks in the mix to claim a third career win in this contest.
