Race 3: No.2 Straand Beauty
The O’Shea & Charlton-trained galloper is three starts back from a six-month break and now looks ready to win.
Last start, the Exceed And Excel gelding showed signs of his best when he beat all but one home in a BM72, here over 1000m with Nash Rawiller in the saddle.
Leading on settling, he dictated the pace to the turn and after leading them in the run home was unable to ward off the challenge by Nazwah, beaten a neck on the line.
Nicely drawn in gate two today, he maps to be box-seating this time with Rawiller retaining the ride and clashing with Nazwah again, he meets him better at the weights and at the gates as well.
Fourth-up and at his peak, he looks set to finish best in this contest.
Race 4: No.6 Tarzing
Chris Waller saddles-up Tarzing here who is unbeaten in two Victorian starts and looks set for the hat-trick in this event.
Last start, the Tarzino gelding came off a debut Maiden win at Seymour when he franked that effort with a win in a BM66 over 1312m at Geelong.
Settling back in the field, Jye McNeil worked him into the race on straightening where he finished best, arriving in time to claim the winner’s cheque on the line.
He draws gate seven for his first look at the clockwise way of racing in Sydney and has Tommy Berry as the new pilot.
In winning form and with fitness on his side, he looks a serious threat in this contest.
Race 5: No.5 Decorum
The Michael Freedman-trained galloper is yet to miss a top-two finish and second-up today looks set for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Snitzel colt resumed off a 19-week spell and simply picked-up where he left off by taking out a BM68, here over 1400m with Tommy Berry in the saddle.
Box-seating on settling, he came off heels on the turn and after scouting wide, joined and headed the leaders inside the final 200m, then went on to record an easy win in the end.
Shooting for the hat-trick today, he gets the gun-run from gate one with Berry in charge again and already a winner when second-up, he looks the testing material in this contest.
