Swan Hill Racing Tips for June 5 – Magiconi the one to beat in the Elvstroem Classic
- Pravaha backed to win Race 2 after strong first-up effort.
- Magiconi set for success in Race 5 following impressive debut.
- Salsa Fellow targets Golden Topaz hat-trick in Race 7.
Swan Hill racing takes place on Friday, June 5, with an eight-race program set down for Swan Hill.
Here are our best bets from the meeting, which is the first of three at the venue that we will preview in our daily tips.
Race 2 No.10- Pravaha
It was a solid first up run by Pravaha at Seymour on May 21 and the Tony McEvoy filly can go a couple of spots better in this race. Her fresh run was just the second career start and she settled worse than midfield and was caught wide before being restrained to find a spot with cover. She was just a tad keen and quickened a long way from home, using up a bit of petrol but sticking on well to go four lengths slower than standard benchmark, which is a bette figure than what any of her rivals in this race have produced in their career so far. She will strip fitter for that and had trialled well in the lead up to her return, while this does look to be a weak maiden and a possible easy kill.
Race 5 No.4- Magiconi
The Elvstroem Classic is one of the major highlights on the first of the three-day Swan Hill carnival and Magiconi couldn't have done much more on debut when run down late by Centenary Florin. That came on a Heavy 8 and he did all the work out in front when setting a hot tempo before just peaking late but holding a solid gap back to the 3rd horse. The winner out of that has since run a very respectable 3rd at Flemington and Magiconi went a length faster than standard benchmark, the only horse to delve into the positive territory in this race. He draws a bit closer to the rail this time and may opt to take a sit. Dean Yendall stays on board.
Race 7 No.3- Salsa Fellow
Willing to roll the dice on Salsa Fellow in the Golden Topaz. The Henry Dwyer gelding will be going for the hat-trick of wins and has toughed it out on Heavy tracks at his past couple with those coming at Terang and Swan Hill. We are unlikely to get into that range for Swan Hill on Friday but he has been equally as solid on Soft and Good tracks at his past two preparations and will be suited in this race by the tempo up front, that looks to be strong. From barrier 3, I expect him to land in a perfect spot tucked away midfield or slightly worse and with just 54kg on his back, he can run over the top of them late in the piece.
