Race 2 No.3 Something Royal
The Kieran Regan-trained galloper is at the top of her game lately and looks well placed here to go on with it in this event.
Last start, the Sessions mare made it four-straight podium finishes when she beat all but one home in a Class 3 Hcp over 1000m at Bunbury.
From the outside gate (9), William Pike settled her back in the field to the turn before easing off heels and tracking wide, came down the centre of the track and finished strongly to arrive in time for second prize in the race, beaten a long neck on the line.
Ideally drawn here in gate two, she maps to settle a little closer to the early speed and nearer the fence as well with Pike in the saddle again.
In top-shelf form now, a trouble-free run can see her there at the finish in this contest.
Race 3: No.5 Jemconi
Simon Miller saddles-up Jemconi here who is first-up today and coming off successful trials, looks a real threat to victory in this event.
Last start, the Nicconi mare ended her two-start first preparation when she finished fifth in a set weights Maiden, here over 1200m.
From gate seven, Brayden Gaerth settled her mid-field to the turn, then in the run home, the mare raced erratically and was never a threat, beaten more than three lengths on the line.
After 10 months away from racing, she trialled twice since returning to work and won her most recent effort on this track over 1000m.
Ideally drawn in gate three, she maps to settle near mid-field on the fence with William Pike returning for his second ride on the mare.
Going off her trial form, she appears to have returned in great touch and with the tongue tie fitted here, she may take beating on fresh legs in this contest.
Race 6: No.4 Cosmo Ruler
The Team Williams-trained galloper is high-flying after three starts back and looks well placed here for another big effort in this event.
Last start, the Universal Ruler mare came off an impressive second-up Maiden win at Pinjarra when she stepped-up to Class 1 company and did well to finish third over 1400m at Bunbury.
Drawn in gate nine (of 11), she settled near mid-field but was trapped three-deep from the outset to the turn, then peeling even wider, Lucy Fiore worked her all the way home where she hit the line well but just couldn’t match it with the first tow past the post, beaten two lengths on the line.
Facing similar company here, she draws better in gate five and maps to settle near mid-field again and after steering her to that maiden win, William Pike returns for the ride in this assignment.
Fourth-up and at her peak here, she should prove hard to hold out in this contest.
