Race 3: No.4 Presocratics
The Gary Clem-trained galloper has found his mojo this time in and looks a shoe-in for back-to-back success in this event.
Last start, the Written By gelding was third-up and found his best form when he took out a BM65, here over 1200m.
From gate one, he settled second on the fence to the turn before joining the leader on straightening, then found plenty in the run home, taking the lead then holding them all at bay, going on to win by more than a length with plenty to spare.
Drawn ideally again in gate three, he maps to be up near the speed again with Jason Taylor remaining aboard after already steering the four-year-old to all three wins at the track.
Fourth-up and at his peak here, he looks the testing material in this contest.
Race 6: No.4 Cryptology
Alisha Taylor saddles-up Cryptology here who is third-up and looks ready to win.
Last start, the Encryption gelding found the podium when he finished third in a Class 1 Hcp, here over 1200m.
Sean Cormack settled him back in the field before easing off the fence then blocked for a run, he finally found clean air inside the last 200m and finished off strongly, taking ground of the first two past the post, beaten just half a length on the line.
Stepping-up to a more suitable 1400m here, he draws nicely in gate three and maps to settle back in the field near the fence with Ryan Wiggins as the new pilot for this assignment.
Fitter for two runs back, the four-year-old looks a major contender in this contest.
Race 8: No.5 El Fortress
Locally-trained by Jamie McConachy, El Fortress is second-up here and ticks the right boxes that suggest he will be a real force at odds in this event.
Last start, the Tassort gelding resumed after 18 weeks in the paddock and in need of the run, finished unplaced in a Class 3 Plate over 1200m at Mackay.
Slowly away, he settled last of the six runners and raced wide to the turn before tracking even wider, then in the run home held his own to finish fifth over the line.
Jumping from gate five here, he maps to settle in the back half of the field with cover and steering him to top-two finishes form two previous rides, Chris McIver returns to take the reins today.
Fitter for that first-up run and already a winner when second-up, the four-year-old is back on home soil and looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
