Randwick racing takes place on Saturday, March 1, with a 10-race program set down for Randwick racetrack.

Race 5: No.11 Snitzel Miss

The Chris Waller-trained Snitzel Miss has her second race start here and will only improve on her impressive efforts on debut.

Last start, the well-bred Snitzel filly came from a long way back to finish within a whisker of victory in the Group 3 Widden Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill.

Held up a little on the turn, James McDonald steered her into the clear where she made up a ton of ground and was just nosed-out on the line in a three-way photo, taking home third prize from the event.

She draws wide here in gate nine but will most likely settle back in the 15-strong field with J.Mac sticking with her for this Group 2 affair.

Fitter for that debut effort and with the experience behind her now, the extra 100m looks ideal for her and she should give us a bold sight in this contest.

Race 8: No.1 Ceolwulf

Joe Pride saddles-up Ceolwulf here who is second-up ticks all boxes that suggest he will be the one they have to beat in this event.

Last start, the Tavistock gelding resumed off a 17-week spell and did well to finish a close-up fourth in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) on this track.

Settling back in the field, he moved up near the turn and ran home well, just in need of that run but beaten only 1.5 lengths on the line.

Chad Schofield was in the saddle that day and after steering him to victory twice previously, he steers the ship again in this event.

Stepping up to the mile trip here, he will be in his element, having won twice at the track and distance already.

A two-time winner when second-up, and at Group 1 level, he should take beating in this contest.

Race 9: No.7 Willaidow

The Marc Conners-trained Willaidow has been flying high recently and second-up here, looks every chance of making it four-straight wins in this event.

Last start, the Shamus Award gelding rang-up the hat-trick when he won the Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes (1200m) coming off a 15-week break.

Taking over inside the final 300m, he fought like a caged tiger and kept all the challengers at bay to cross the line just ahead of them with Tyler Schiller in the saddle.

He draws the outside gate (9) here but his early speed sees the six-year-old crossing to settle near the speed with Schiller at the helm again.

Already a two-time winner when second-up and boasting two victories from three visits to Randwick, he can strike again at Group 3 level.
