Race 4: No.1 Bad Detective

The Cody Reardon-trained Bad Detective is in top-shelf form this campaign and with all boxes ticked here, looks the best of the day.

Last start, the Shamus Award gelding recorded win number two when he destroyed his rivals in a Class 1, here over 1550m.

With Jason Holder aboard, he led from the outset and once balanced after straightening, left the field to fight out the minors as he put more than five lengths on them over the line whilst carrying 60.5kgs for the event.

Nicely drawn here in gate four, he maps to be on the speed again with Holder in the saddle again.

After three runs back, he should be at his peak for this and if he gets his way in front, the four-year-old will prove very hard to run down again.

Race 5: No.1 Beauty Rising

Phillip Stokes saddles-up Beauty Rising here who is third-up and ticks all the boxes that suggest she is the one to beat in this event.

Last start, the Deep Field mare was second-up and returned to the winner’s circle when she clobbered her rivals in a BM66, here over 1250m.

Kayla Crowther rode her a treat that day, settling one pair back, one off the fence, and once inside the final 200m, she took control and went on to win, putting two lengths on them over the line.

The punishment for such an impressive win is an extra 2.5kgs to carry here, but she has Crowther steering the ship again.

Already a winner when third-up and now successful at the track and distance as well, a trouble-free run here should see her there at the finish.

Race 8: No.6 Let’s Get Down

Another from the Stokes stable, Let’s Get Down has proven to be a very consistent galloper to date and fishing on the podium in all four starts this time in, looks well placed here to make that five in this event.

Last start, the well-bred Better Than Ready gelding scored his 12th top-three finish from just 15 career-starts when he beat all but one home in a BM78 over 1250m on the Parks circuit.

Leading the way in the run home, he found plenty over the final stages but just couldn’t hold out one stronger on the day.

Up in grade here, he faces BM86 company but is dropping 3.5kgs and has Kayla Crowther sticking with him for this assignment.

From gate four here, he maps to settle behind the speed and take the sit.

In top-class form to date and already a winner at the track, he lines-up here a major competitor in this contest.
