Morphettville racing takes place on Saturday, February 15, with a 9-race program set down for Morphettville racetrack.

Race 3: No. 3 Dodd

The Team Oxlade-trained Dodd resumed in top-class form and looks set to go on with it in this event.

Last start, the Lonhro gelding returned to the track after nine months off the scene and did it in style by taking out a Class 1 Hcp over 1100m at Strathalbyn

Taylor Johnstone had him box-seating from gate two on settling and in the run home, ran down the leader in time to grab the spoils for the race.

He draws gate two again in this event and maps to settle in the first half-dozen with Taylor Johnstone remaining in the saddle.

While yet to crack it for a win at the track, the four-year-old has come back a more mature galloper and is yet to miss a podium finish when second-up, saluting in his last preparation.

A trouble-free run here puts the galloper in the mix and well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.

Race 4: No.1 Bad Detective

Locally-trained by Cody Readon, Dodd has hit the ground running in three starts this campaign and looks set to take home the major prize again in this event.

Last start, the Shamus Award gelding rang-up win number two when he destroyed a Class 1 field, here over the 1550m trip.

With Jason Holder aboard and carrying 60.5kgs, he left from gate two and led on settling where he was never challenged from that point on, going on to cross the line five lengths clear of the 10-strong field.

He gets the gun-run from gate one here and maps to lead them again with Holder booked for the ride again.

He has two wins at Morphettville on his resume (one on each track), and fourth-up here, he will be at his peak.

Left alone to dictate the race in front, he should prove very hard to run down from there.

Race 7: No.3 Let’s Get Down

Phillip Stokes saddles-up the ever-consistent Let’s Get Down here who ticks all the boxes that suggest he can go back-to-back in this event.

Last start, the well-bred Better Than Ready gelding came off a close-up second at Murray Bridge and went one better by taking out a strong BM76, here over 1250m.

Kayla Crowther was aboard for the first time and from gate three, rode the gelding a treat, settling just behind the speed (one-ff the fence) before finishing best to claim victory in the final 50m of the race.

He has gate seven here and maps to cross and settle near mid-field with cover as Crowther steers the ship again.

The four-year-old has four wins and seven minor placings from 14 career starts glowing on his resume and at his peak in this contest, the signs are there he can frank that last start win here.
